One of the worst candidates. They has failed as coach on every single level. IF they are going to give it to a vatani coach, at least give it to Neko or Alex Nouri. Daei has proven to be mediocre for years now.

Was Daei’s last match as TM manager the 2-1 loss to Saudi before Ghotbi came in and almost got us to the WC?

Daei insist CQ should stay. If CQ leaves I think Shaffer can be a possible replacement but Daei, Ghalenoei or Branko can't. Team will not be confident.

No Ghotbi didn't almost get us to the WC! Ghotbi also failed miserably by bringing dinosaurs to TM and trying to use "experience" instead of youth energy! I'd never seen TM so slow in the few WCQ games they played right after Ghotbi took over!

Daei himself would have done a better job after the Saudi Arabia loss than Ghotbi!

Iranian media talk in a way as if they have accepted CQ leaving Iran after the WC as a fact!

You realize Iran would’ve made the WC had Park Ji Sung not scored late in the game right?

Not only he wouldn't have scored, we would have scored and won with a bigger margin if the right players had been used. Mind you, I think Ghotbi would have achieved a bigger loss against the Saudis if he had used his dinosaurs during the whole WCQ.

Ghotbi got better later....but during the remaining WCQ I thought his TM played worse than Daei's TM!

When Ghotbi became the coach, his key game was away North Korea game which he failed miserably. If Park Ji Sung did not score that goal, KSA and North Korea would not have played for draw. Our chance for direct qualification was killed after away draw against North Korea. Ghotbi followed with Daei were the worst Iran NT managers although Ghotbi gets the nod for me.
