I think a neutral would have been highly entertained with this game - chances at both ends and exciting football.

Now for us - I didn't mind the lineup. But 2 things for me, I think Saman needs to start and Cheshmi is still a question mark to me.

Beira with some nice saves, but also with a head scratching semi/uncertain exit on second goal.

There were LOTS of moments in this game where I was happy with the play, and also moments where I thought we were poor (especially the nervy first 15 mins) - but hey guess what, we are not playing Asia anymore. So get used to games where we are not always the better team.

At the end of th day I though we did decently well against a VERY pacy Turkish squad (playing in UEFA has clearly payed off).

I won't do player ratings because I think every player had good moments and bad, so its hard for me to make a decision.

If I was to make one final point, it is this - this game showed that there is basically little to NO room in the WC for individual error. You have to play the game of your life to get a result.

        On to the next one.
I wouldn't say ZJoon was being overdramatic.. He was being pretty fair and accurate with his analysis.

I like your optimism, but you have to admit, this was a very worrying performance.

What really pisses me off is that sooooo many scouts and people were watching this match for potential transfer targets and this is how the players choose to preform

We fucking dont know how to create chances against a good defense, they let us even come very close. CQ should simulate these scenarios so these guys know how to create chances, they are clueless you can see it.

              Beiranvand - 7

              Rezaeian - 5
              Pouraliganji - 6
Cheshmi - 0 even -5 he should leave.
              Mohammadi - 6

Hajsafi - 4 He played wrong position
              Shojaei - 6
Ansarifard - 3 He played wrong position

              Jahanbakhsh - 5 I expected more
              Taremi - 4 disapointing
              Azmoun - 2

              ----------------------------------------------

              Ebrahimi - 5
              Amiri - 5
              Ghoddos - 5
              Dejagah - 5
              Torabi 3
Gucci - 6 He is way more professional than Azmoun If the Turkish defender didn't handtouch the ball it was a goal. Turkish players stopped him with arm and leg.
              ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The result would have been better if we used our best central defenders and Ghodos played instead of Hajsafi from the beginning. It reminds me of IVIC time when we played
with wrong players. I have no doubt that Biranvand will start in the world cup. I doubt we play with Cheshmi in CD.

                I wasn't aware of that.
Think the real scouts are at the world cup. It was a friendly game between a non WC team.. and..... Iran.

Well this is exactly CQ made his team play like this.

You do not want your opponents to figure you out before the real games starts.

I think CQ's mission in this match was to confused the heck out of the
Moroccan scouts watching the game. He brilliantly achieved his goal.

The scout now thinks Shojaei or Ansarifard is one of our starting DMs.
Or Cheshm is our starter in CB.

And they saw 12 random players in the middle of the pitch and have no
idea which position any of them will play in the real match.

Perfect simulation to confuse your opponents.

Worrying in what sense? And from who's perspective? The perspective of someone who thought we were going to waltz into a UEFA team's home stadium and play the same we do in Asia? If so, then sure it was worrying, but only because your expectations were not level.

Look at both Ramin and Mimo. They can rip by wingers in Asia with no problem. How many times did they fail to do that today? (especially Mimo).

We need to play teams like this more - it was similar to the Montenegro game we played a year or 2 ago in terms of high intensity.

If they play like this vs Morocco - and work on their silly mistakes - I think we are in for a banger of a match.

*Milad Mohammadi: What happened to this dude's speed?! The cause of the first goal started by him not reaching the striker!

*Shojaei: Not TM material anymore. Not ready to join the WC!

*Dejagah: Not match ready after his injury! Way too slow! He 's not TM material at this point either!

*Jalal Hosseini is badly missed in the defense line.

*We are still so unprepared for the WC, it's painful!

*We desperately need the Greece game to happen!

*I never thought I would actually wish us to go back to our previous bus-parking tactic in the WC!

Exactly, despite everything our control of the game was a huge amount better than TM performances against european opposition that we had seen before CQ took over. There were so many years (decades...) under different coaches that we couldn't string 2-3 passes together. We forget what it was like then, before we could actually play with some kind of shape. I'm not sure why, is it memory loss? arrogance? too young to remember?

Some of you guys who complain about this kind of performance would have been tearing your hair out with TM for 3 decades. Where the reliance was just on individual moments rather than any kind of teamwork.

Still, there are so many areas we need to work on over the next few weeks and CQ needs to be on-the-ball.

One interesting fact about this game is that we did not park the bus and play defensively, like we have traditionally done against strong competition under CQ. We actually dominated posesssion for long periods.

Playing like this of course made us more vulnerable in defense, and I would be very surprised if this is how we will play in the WC.

Makes me think that CQ told the players to play more offensively to try this ahead of the games that actually matter...

Not at all. He's the outside man. Cheshmi is on the inside and was caught out so badly. That goal was because of Cheshmi.

I agree that we played awful, but I'd rather it happen now than at the WC. I just stated possible reasons why.

The fact that we can't create at all isn't linked to players scared of getting injured. That's been the case for years. We've never managed to score after a good ball possession, it's always been down to set pieces or pure luck.
That's exactly what these friendlies are for. Now we all know that Cheshmi will not be playing at CB in the WC. Aren't you glad that we didn't test him at CB in game 1 against Morocco?

And relax, man. I doubt CQ plays an attacking oriented lineup against Spain/Portugal. In those games we'll probably see the more traditional TM counter-attacking formation.
We are currently witnessing a revolution in Iranian football. Team Melli has never been stronger than it is today, and we will only get better.

Rooozbe cheshmi what a big disaster. We play like this my prediction:

                                Morocco 2 - Iran 0
                                Spain 4- iran 0
                                Portugal 3 - Iran 0
