I think Jalal Hosseini should come in as a last, last resort. But that being said Cheshmi needs to be dropped and Pouraliganji needs to be partnered up with either Montazeri or Majid Hosseini. I really want to see Majid Hosseini start at CB with Pouraliganji in our next friendly..I really hope this Greece friendly happens

      Hell YES.

lets face it. CQ's main two CB's are going to be Montazeri-PAG combo.

so we have khanzadeh, cheshmi & the other chap as mere ALTERNATIVES in case of injury suspension, ... etc. And most probably they arent going to see more than 10-15 min's COMBINED in all 3 first round games.
in other words, chances are they wont be used.

So my argument is since we're going to take mere "standby"s for the main two CB's.... then why not take a tried/tested Hosseini who has proved his capabilities in all sorts of high stress games? than a newcomer, who's most probably going to lose his composure when facing the likes of ronaldo, silva, isco, zayech, ... etc.

im 50-50 on that decision..!! but voted yes for sure if we didnt have at least Pejman, who i think would be an equally good PAG partner..!!

woulda liked to have seen Jr. Hossaini given a run in vs Turkey before deciding

i think cheshmi could come in handy yet in a more advanced defensive mid position..! ?

i'd be more apt to dump one of gholizadeh or Torabi or Khanzadeh to make room..!

I really believe that TM's defense psychologically depends on Jalal's presence. Taking him out now was poor timing. But hey, wtf do I know?

even if he's brought back, he won't be starting. You don't move a player into the standby list, bring him back and have him start games.

              I voted: NO
Reason: I saw the same episode of questions in WC 2014 with Khalatbari and CQ proved his point!

well Jalaal is solid choice, nontheless, for either Starting or coming off the bench if needed ..!

correction on Beckenbauer, in his last world cup (1974) he was 29 years old!
He retired from NT before 1978!

I think you meant Lothar Mathaeus instead, who was 38 in WC 1998!

With all due respect, this pole serves no purpose and should be closed and deleted. It is confusing people at times when the message should be positive and uniting.

The issue with the coach having full authority over player selection is nothing complicated, new, or overlay difficult for people to comprehend and respect. It is a practice that happens everywhere in the world of football. Do you see people in England or Germany running poles to second doubt their coach! NO! Why are we doing it?

There is only 17 days left to the start of our campaign in WC 2018 and the only meaningful action is one to UNITE us and get us behind our team.

Will never play for TM again after he tried to dodge sarbazi..besides Mohammadi is better anyways.

I dont think anyone has any illusions that Hosseini will be moved to the starting line up.
CQ has made it clear he has Pejman and PAG as his top choices.

BUT I'd rather have an experienced alternative on the bench in case either of the two gets injured or carded.
or if we need an extra defender to keep the score for the final minutes.
IN ANY such situations, coaches rely on experience for defense, than youth

                            1. Wasn't Montazeri injured most of this season?? Is he even match fit?
                            2. Has Khanzadeh had a decent performance for the national team yet?
                            3. The younger Hosseini also only has 1 cap...
                            4. Pouraliganji is not physically strong, we saw what happened when he played against Sweden. And it isn't rare for him to fall out of position. He plays much more solid when he is next to Hosseini
                            5. Cheshmi marking Ronaldo sounds like a comedy

At the very least Jalal Hosseini could be a sub.... no reason for him not to be there. What if Montazeri or Pouraliganji get injured??

Poll should include a "Maybe" let's see who plays as CB in our friendly vs Greece. If Majid Hosseini or Montazeri get the job done, then we don't need to call him up
