To be fair, Mahdavikia started as a RB and gradually was moved to the wings after the 1998 WC, so the #2 kind of made sense then (although I must say that we played a somewhat different system in WC '98, usually with 3 CB's, so Kia even there was not the typical RB as we see today in a classical 4-back).Persian Pride running through my veins!

I think it may be Torabi.
CQ will likely want Cheshmi and Khanzadeh due to their versatility and physical attributes.
Amiri is his boy "ma boy". To be fair Amiri would force the opposition to change their tactics, however inconsistent he is.
After dropping Jalal, there is little chance he will drop another strong CB in Majid Hosseini
Ebrahimi is required for the Morocco game in absence of Ezatollahi.
Much as he drives many of us crazy with his lassitude on the pitch and lack of anticipation, Masoud is essential in CQ's plans for the dressing room and general morale.
He likes Ansarifard and puts him in random positions so I doubt he would cut him
It looks like he has gradually been discarding Torabi even though he is one of the youngest players.
The only other possibility is Gholizadeh but I have a feeling that because he can play on either flank (and further up), CQ will want that.Comment

is the final list being released today? After watching all those highlights, I dont really care for vouria to be in the team. Just hope Jalal gets reinstated from standby list for one cheshmi or khanzadeh. The cut i am fairly sure will be a winger, as we have too many. ARJ, Ghoddos, Taremi are the first choice ones (thats already one too many), and then we have amiri,gholizadeh, and torabi, and Ansarifard all there as well. So thats effectively 7 players for two starting positions. I think one of amiri, gholizadeh, or torabi will be cut. I hope amiri, but I would not be surprised if it is gholizadeh (not long enough with squad, although based on performances he deserves to stay), or torabi ( too inconsistent).Comment

Guys trust me, I have a feeling he's gonna keep his same 24 man roster and cut either Gholizadeh or Torabi.
What I wish he would do:
- Bring back Jalal and cut Cheshmi and Amiri

CQ put lots of emphasis on building attack from the central defenders, and rightfully, that is why he kept Montazeri despite his age and dealing with lots of injuries in last few years, that explain why he dropped Jalal(i strongly believe Jalal age was just an excuse, he took Pejman who is almost the same age), that is why he likes Cheshmi, but the issue is he is NOT a defender. I am pretty sure he will take Cheshmi, same as Khanzadeh, in both cases they can play in multiple positions. Gholizadeh will be the extra player, mainly like Kaveh the victim of depth.Comment
