If we were to do that then we wouldn't really need qualification games. Just take the top 32 ranked teams.

No...we would. Ranking only earns you a spot. Then all of Asian trams fight for that spot. Like how North American leagues use standings to determine home advantage etc.

This way even if a team like Australia is ranked #1 they may have earned it playing easier opponents more often than other teams...but that doesn't reward a team with automatic birth. KSA couldn't outspend us to play bunch of friendlies and go to WC either.

This system could be manipulated the way it is now with teams avoiding friendlies to improve their ranking (like the way Poland did). Imagine if Oceania refused to play any friendlies for 3 years. That would get them a few teams in the World Cup.

If we make it out of the group It will most probably the 2nd team. I would rather see Russia Top the group than egypt or Uruguay.

Because prior to first WC in 1930, Olympics was like World Championship.
Uruguay won the Olympics in 1924 and 1928 and then FIFA WC 1930 and 1950. So, Fifa gave them a special permission to wear 4 stars.

This does not apply to Argentina, who also won Olympics but wear only 2 stars, since they won olympics after FIFA WC was established!

It also doesnt count as extra World champions, Uruguay is twice FIFA world champions, and twice world champions (or to be exact Olympic champions) prior to FIFA WC
