They play high pressure on Russia defense and they also use a deep defensive line. Basically thinking they can handle the Russian strikers 1v1. It's an attacking high pressure 4-4-2.
It's similar to the the tactics Brazil used when they lost to Germany 7-1.

Saudi can use these tactics against inferior teams because they can handle the other teams strikers 1v1. Russia players are better than Saudis so it's not going to work.
