A) If spain had won
- Would mean that if we got 2 draws in remaining games we were guaranteed progression
- If we lost against spain and drew portugal, we would progress if portugal tied/lost to Morocco
B) Current scenario aka draw
- If we get a win against either Spain or Portugal, we are guaranteed progression
- If we draw one of the teams (Portugal most likely) and lose to the other, we would depend on the team we DREW against to lose points against Morocco
- If we draw against both teams, we would be counting on one of them dropping points against Morocco; otherwise, both other teams would progress over us based on goal difference/goals scored
- If we lose against both teams, we are out as both would have a minimum of 4 points
As things stand, our current situation creates more possibilities for us to progress. HOWEVER, two of these involve games that are out of our control AKA how our opponents fare against Morocco. The only one that is completely in our hands is a major upset, a victory over either portugal or spain (or both). In my opinion, a win will be far more difficult for us than acquiring two draws. Either way i'm just going to enjoy our next two matchups, i mean how often will we even get to see our boys against Ronaldo/Ramos/Isco/Silva/Iniesta etc?
and if this happens we will have 5 precious points , then we have to see like you said how each team fares against Morocco ( a brused animal, with nothing to lose, coming at Portugal and Spain and quite possibly drawing one or both.....

I don't mean to be too much of a pessimist, but this is a likely scenario for us at the moment:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_F...ld_Cup_Group_G
1 Switzerland 2 1 0 7 Advance to knockout stage
2 France 1 2 0 5
3 South Korea 1 1 1 4
4 Togo 0 0 3 0
This was from the 2006 world cup. Korea had beaten their African opposition, and meanwhile two strong European teams had tied in their matchup. Korea then tied France and lost to Switzerland, and both European sides beat Togo.
If i'm to be optimistic, however, our group could very well look like this:
SPN W2 D1 L0 Pts: 7
IRN W1 D1 L1 Pts: 4
POR W0 D3 L0 Pts: 3
MOR W0 D1 L2 Pts: 1
Or this
SPN W2 D1 L0 Pts: 7
IRN W1 D1 L1 Pts: 4
MOR W1 D0 L2 Pts: 3
POR W0 D2 L1 Pts: 2
There is a decent chance we see these scenarios. Morocco, as mentioned by eerooni jan, is like a wounded animal right now and their next game will be against Portugal. It is possible that they will come out guns blazing and pull a very impressive upset; we know that they have the talent and ability to do so, and Portugal (as strong as they were against Spain) can still be exploited by weaker teams. I predict they tie with another high scoreline against morocco, or possibly even lose to them 2-1 or something.
On the other hand, Spain is the perfect example of the kryptonite to our team in my opinion. They are used to dominating possession and establishing a fluid midfield that is extremely difficult to contain. That double teaming our players were doing to win the second balls? It won't work against players like Silva, Isco, Busquetes, and Iniesta. They are too technical, intelligent, and mobile. Here is a clear example of what they players are capable of. They have Costa whose physicality is greater than both of our CB's. Most importantly, they are a patient and mentally strong team. They won't be as easily frustrated as Morocco was. Instead, they will work us around and exploit any gaps that they manage to create by working our defenders around. I hope that we play out of our minds and cause troubles for them, but my prediction is 2-0 or 3-0 in favor of Spain.
However, there is hope yet. This portugal you saw against spain was one that was able to play to its strengths. They were allowed to counter-attack, which means Ronaldo was able to utilize abundant space and create deadly chances. Look at all 3 goals, they were ALL created in transition. When they are given the lions share of possession, however, they often come up short and fail to create anything substantive. This was abundantly clear during Euro2016, and thus i think we have a very realistic shot of holding them to a draw, and maybe even catching them with one of our counters.

Worrying statistic
Fifa has published detailed stats on every player and team performance/actualy formation/heat maps.
The Iran-Morocco game has some interesting facts:
https://www.fifa.com/worldcup/matche...24/#match-info
Our team ran 100 km in our match, comparable to Morocco (101), Portugal (102) and Spain (103) km.
Most distance covered were by Amiri (10.47 km), Karim (10.3) & Ramin (9.4 km).
However our passing accuracy is really terrible...at 66%, compared to Morocco (86%), Portugal (85%), and Spain (92%).
I don't know how we are going to improve pass accuracy in our games ahead when were are likely to face more pressure.

Secondly, against Morocco it was long ball, so pass accuracy will be low. It was this tactic that led to the goal, so it worked.
Thirdly, are we seriously going to compare Iran to Spain and Portugal?
