shojaei actually ran a lot during the time he was on the pitch. He gave nice passes and controlled the midfield. He spoke with players and the ref like a captain should. He is our leader and our amazing coach made it captain for a reason. only real error was his yellow card. Even iniesta loses the ball sometimes.

I wonder what would happen (have a strong suspicion we'd get smacked by a couple of quick Spanish goals) if we started the game pressing high up and attacking Spain. Perhaps send a few long balls to the wings and go for second and third balls to try to create a few chances in the first 5-10 minutes of the game. Kinda take Span by surprise and see if we can score a quick one.
What's the worst that can happen?

As you say, the fitter and stronger Spanish would just counter-attack our attack and it'll look like Brazil v Germany.

Iran play very intelligently, tricking strong teams into a false sense of security. They already take teams by surprise.

You would expect Lopetegui would've done his research and knew this approach, but Spain decided they wanted to sabotage themselves... so now the question is does Hierro know Iran's tactics? He never would've scouted Iran. He's probably just telling his players to go out and play how they want.

guys do you remember how Iran completely obliterated south korea in the qualifiers in Tehran? that was after a couple weeks that TM were training together!, i think we will play a much much better passing game with a very high accuracy, and we will have more chances coming our way for sure against spain, We will have our chance against them and we do have the potential to win the game. we just need to speed up the counter with some deadly 1 touch passes if possible just like how mexico did against germany. I have all hope and have a feeling we will do Great!!

Everything is possible if the will and mindset is there!

Well i would love to see marocs beating Portugal since they were
great sportsmen (atleast the ones that i know and saw).
But i think a draw between them would be perfect for us!

Its so hard to play against this spanish team. They play really fast and are a perfect team.
The starting players against Portugal: 4 of the playing for Barcelona, 3 for Real Madrid, 2 for Atletico Madrid, 1 for City and 1 for Manchester United. 2 of the 3 players who came in were 1 former Barcelona player and 1 Real Madrid player.

But lets watch some of their qualification games:

So there are some examples showing that Spain can also play bad!
Dont get me wrong! Spain is a Team much better than Iran and out of 10 games they will win 8 against us. BUT we have to try to make this coming game on of those 2 games to get a draw!
I dont think we can win. But I think we will play a good game and a tactical very interesting game. We wont start like we started against Morocco. Spain does play an other type of game. We have to try to be like Mexico yesterday. They had a man covering Kroos and the Germans couldnt work on their usual game.

What would I do:
Isco, Silva and Iniesta are the 3 main players to cover in this game. THe problem with Isco is, that he has a free role. He will move around the pitch and not stay at one position. Why is this dangerous. Isco moving from the wings to the center creats space for Alba to turn on the speed and reach our Box. Alba in the Box is the most dangerous scenario. He has speed and quick feet. Dangerous to give a way a penalty. More over Koke can fill the left side of Isco, while Isco is in front of our Box to play the deadly pass or to cross Silva and giving Silva the Shooting/passing position.
Spain has a lot of weaknesses. If they play Alba and Carvajal they will open their Defense. So Busquets has to step back and form a 3 Person defend with Ramos and Pique. This means that the area in front of this defense is open. So we have to get a high ball in to the space between defense and midfield. Our target player to controll the ball or to head the ball to the side where we have the space. Ramos/Pique/Busquets going for our man in the middle to win the header. Our man heads the ball to the left/right and we will have Amiri (or any other fast player) who runs with speed in to the box to try to get a freekick/penalty or even better a shooting position. Pique is slow so is Busquets. So with pace we can out run this Spain team.

Thats just some quick things I have in my mind. But of course its much easier to have this ideas here onthe interent
