If Morocco beats Spain 2-0, and we tie Portugal 0-0 or 1-1 then do we go through as 2nd in the group?
Spa N has a goal difference of +1 and Iran 0.
2-0 defeat would make it -1, in which case a draw would see us through!

Head-to-head results is the first tiebreaker, and we lost to Spain. So a draw means even if Spain lose and we're both on 4 points, we're out. Whoever wins between Iran and Portugal definitely goes through.
FIFA have a very complicated way of confirming that head-to-head is the first tiebreaker by calling it 'number of points' rather than 'head-to-head' or even 'aggregate score':
https://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/t...ia-2018-groups
It's very embarrassing that after head-to-head and goals, there's no option of a penalty shootout (if it's the two teams involved) or even using the dodgy FIFA rankings.

- So what the link is saying is first the teams are ranked by total points (obviously)
- Teams level on points are then decided by goal difference, teams on equal goal difference as well are then decided by goals scored.
- AFTER that is 'head to head record'.
So goal difference first.

Touching story (VERY TOUCHING actually) from Morocco against the backdrop of the WC...
It is in Spanish but Google Translate does a very good job and this is why I love the WC because it gets foreign journalists to go and find unique stories like this from all over the world and some of the struggles that other countries and people go through.
If you have a few minutes, it's definitely worth your time: http://www.elmundo.es/cronica/2018/0...72e8b4630.html

1. points
2. goal difference
3. # of goals scored
4. head to head
5. FIFA fair play ranking
6. lottery
except for the fair play ranking every think else is pretty straight forward.
Morocco wins by a margin >= 2 and any draw will take us through as second in the group.
nevertheless it should not get down to this as our faith is in our own hands. Just win it tonight!
btw. also to be very honest to you. If we don't manage to win either one of spain and Portugal we don't deserve to go through before them anyway...

Last night a large group of Iranian "fans" besieged the hotel of the portuguese team making a lot of noise and preventing them from sleeping.
It looked organized and seemingly they had a relatively big sound-system at the site.
Probably the same group of people who have been disrupting Iranian fans from supporting the team with their horning, now disrupted the Portuguese players sleep.
How passionately I hate the Iranians who are affiliated to this entity.
What is going to happen now are two possible things.
The Portuguese are going to be extra motivated because of this, so that they are going to go the extra mile today to smash Iran, or Iran will clinge a victory that is going to be severly tainted.
