Great game by Faghani. Loved when he pushed the German player away telling him keep your distance.

However the linesmen missed some offside calls. Hope that doesn’t lower his chance to officiate higher up in the tournament.

With VRA the linesmen do not flag offside until completed not to slow down the game

He did a fantastic job, refereeing at its best, reminds me somehow of Pierluigi Collina.

Some hours before I read in the German media that whenever Faghani was the ref for their match then they couldn't win, including the final of the Olympic games 2016 against Brazil.. This trend seems to continue 😁..

Faghani was amazing. I watched the whole game not knowing he was the referee ahead of time. When I saw him, It gave me more incentive to watch the whole game, as if I needed more incentive than watching a great game. lol. I was very proud of Faghani. He had control of the game. He didn't take any nonsense. He managed the game very well. Good job Alireza. I am glad he is being recognized for a job well done in a high pressure game. I heard on Irib that he won’t have any more matches in the group stage but will whistle in the knock-out stages. Not sure how reliable is that news.
