I understand that Shojaei had some missed passes but his role in this game seem to be to a defensive one, closer to the defensive line rather than the offensive one. In terms of distance covered and running he was right up there, especially off the ball. In the 69 mins that he was in he covered 7.2km off which almost 5.5km was off the ball. Shojaei averages just over 104meters per minute in the game. If you compare him with Ebrahimi, in fact, Shojaei ran more as ebrahimi covered 8.4 km in 82 mins, averaging 102meters per minute. The highest performing player, as per stats, was Amiri and he covered 10.4km in 98mins, averaging 106meters per minute. Checked the Iran player stats in the following link.

Damn
Slowly recovering from one of the happiest and awesome days I’ve had in a long while .
I was really surprised & somewhat disappointed by our starting lineups ..! Milad missing the LB spot was a big headscracher for me, also thought that massoud was ill fitted for that particular matchup, disappointed to see Taremi missing & wasn’t too convinced of Karim being able to quiet pick up the slack in LW, also was scared shittless to see Cheshmi deputizing the CB position although took some comfort in seeing Omid added to the mix to help him out & secure the straight down the middle route to our goal.
In my mind I coulda made a case for Amiri's inclusion for the hustle & defensive pestering factor but was unsure if he had the overall quality, poise and ability to step up his game to WC levels ...!?
Nervous start to the game by our boys further vindicated my fears & nervousness and being half-drunk put me in a real shitty mood ..!
There were about a dozen Moroccan fans nearby in our section who had gotten encouraged by their good start & we’re making too much noise which was further aggravating the shitt outa me ..!
Along with a few drunken homies in nearby seats, I begin to become a bit belligerent & fully took control of that section of the fans & single handily turned it into an all irani section with all the boogh n Jigh..!
after the early jitters, our boys begin to stamp out their authority over the match & the genius surprise 3 man backline with 4 more players marshaling in front of them completely shut down the dangerous Moroccan’s Central Attacking routes & forced them out wide & away from dangers of teeing up serious shots straight at our goal frame..!
As the game wore on, I became more n more comfortable & sure of our solid defensive structure & winessing first hand frustration setting in Moroccan fans and players camp, I became more and more convinced that at least one Point was in the bag from that fixture & remained slightly hopeful of a possible late goal from a set piece lso we can bag the vital all 3 points ( which was all along my prediction anyways..! )
in my own mind at least I also feel at least slightly responsible for causing that brilliant Own Goal that handed us that sweet sweet victory..! Sensing something big was about to happen from that set-piece, sitting only 20feet right above where Ehsan was getting ready to take that FK, I went ape-shitt, screaming an whistling and encouraging everybody in that section to make as much noise as possible to further unnerve the obviously intimidated and panicky Moroccan defense..! I just knew something big was about to happen, I whistling so freaking loud like a madman, (my brother sitting next to me who's not a big football fan was embarrassed hiding his face and was trying to tell me to tone it down..!) turned to him, cussed him out and told him to either stand up and scream or get your asss dafaqu outa here grandpa..!! lol This is it .... we gonna score this right here and now..! oddly the young morrocan guy sitting a few seats down from me had the same gut feeling and agreed with my assessment and told him family that this was it and that they are going to get scored on and he said I can bear to watch this and started to walk outa of the stadium..!
I was already mad at Hajsafi for earlier shitty fk deliveries in the game, so when I saw him send that FK in so low that seemed unlikely to even clear the first man, I was gonna say well fk this then I saw that brilliant diving header by our morrocan buddy hitting the back of the net and oh man I went completely mental jumping up and down and highFiving my drunk homie noise buddies standing above me and going ape-shitt ...!!
after the game we celebrated the win with Iranian fans till wee hours of the morning out of the stadium into the metro station and beyond in the streets of downtown, I think we got back to our apt. like at 6 in the morning finally and im still horse voiced from then..!
anyways after coming home and watching the replay, I must say
This win by enlarge was Curtesy of CQ’s specific tactical adaptation in order to neutralize strength of Morocco ..!
Amiri surprising to me was brilliant, glimpses of his breakout in TM during the last AC ..! He was a defensive menace & seemed to be all over the place in face of all moroccan players attacking down the left wing, also upon replay, I noticed that breakaway which resulted in Sardar’s big chance was spreaheaded by his brilliant through-ball & intense defensive pressing ..!
Omid was also playing brilliantly and courageously, well above his norm..! that guy stepped up big time, damseh garm ... next to Amiri he was another huge pleasant surprise..!
didn't care for massoud's nonchalant and careless game approach and passing, and was annoyed at him getting in the face of the ref constantly, especially after being cautioned for a clumsy foul..! I think he will fare much better vs the Spain and Portugal ..!
was so glad Beiro continued his great recent form in TM and man that one save he had was absolutely tremendous and really made the biggest difference in the outcome of our game..!
Saman and Taremi changes were awesome and I felt so much more confident after their intro into the game ...... I really would like to see more minutes from these 2...!
ps
this Morocco team was freaking good and seemed solid all around, a lot better than I thought they'd be ...! I honestly woulda been happy had we even walked off that pitch with just a Point vs them ..!! so glad CQ didn't opt to open up vs these guys trying to press for a win.... im nearly 100% sure we woulda lost that game if..!!
One more thing Our Fans also played a Pivotal Role in our victory ...! although as usual Unorganized cheer and booghing, we outnumbered the Moroccan fans at least 2 to 1 at the stadium and everybody cheered their assess off..!!
anyways I'll try posting some pics and vids later on for you boys if I get a chance and have a good internet connection and all that..!!
I can't believe were Topping the table going into 2nd game I now feel optimistic we can muster at least one Tie from the next to games ?? and I also think Morocco is gonna snatch some points away from the big 2 sides in our group and that will hopefully boost our chances of qualifying for the next round...!!

There is no doubt that this was a great game, and a great win. Something unforgettable!
You realize how well and organized Iran played when you watch the game three times like me!! The players did everything spot on, as the coach had asked them to do. the genius and experience of CQ also prevailed and was really the difference between the two teams.
The only comment I want to make is about Massoud Shojaee and his mental and physical fitness for this world cup. From his comments in the pre-game conference about our senior players having stress, to his performance in the game and more importantly how he conduced himself as the captain of the team, was just not something so desirable. It appeared that the only player that was really under stress was himself. He made so many mistakes, committed fouls and fouls, gave the ball on three occasions to the Moroccans and at least one almost caused us real grief. When he was talking to teammates, the stress was so obvious in his face, had a argument with Rezaian over a throw in, and almost got into something with a Moroccan player and when he was subbed, he didn't look happy. I can forget about his poor performance, but I can't forget his lack of leadership on the field. I hope I don't see him start against Spain and Portugal. He is a deficit.
