Why would you say that? The grass looked OK to me.

Momentum of the sliding tackle means he traps Griezmann's leg but this is unintentional. Either way, the ball is already with the keeper because of the slight contact on the ball in the first place.

I don't think it should have been a penalty/don't think the decision should have been overturned as it wasn't a clear and obvious error, for me anyways.
I totally agree that it may have been unintentional and it would have been a complete different story if the ball had gone in a different direction and/or Griezmann wasn't within playing distance of it.

But the ball was still within playing distance and it was in fact between Griezmann and the net, so essentially he took out a player out of a goal scoring opportunity, not with the initial part of the tackle (which by itself would have been no penalty) but with the follow through.

Either way, it was one of those really tough calls no one wants to make or not make!

peru denmark is a match I am really looking forwar to. Two teams that play attractive brands of different football. danes very european and classy, peruvians very energetic with typical south american speed and individual skill. Both teams are also solid defensively. Should be a fantastic match.

If you ask me, after hitting the ball one can decide to move their leg backwards or at least try to pull oneself back somehow. Did not look like he did that by looking at the replays.

It was so patchy bro, did you not watch it on large screen? It looked worse than Azadi's grass!

azadis grass is fantastic, especially considering its age and how much it is used.

A clear indication that how many stars and super players from super clubs you have on your roster does not translate to a super team. France is very lucky to come out this game with a win against a second class team like the Aussies. And again an indication that a second class team if playing with strategy and as a united team, can give anyone a serious run for their money. GO IRAN

Peruvians creating an insane atmosphere at the stadium, bravo to them! They had such a long travel distance but showed up to make their team pretty much play a home match.
