    Fake fans:

When the team is losing: "Why can't we be disciplined and get a win?!"

When the team is winning: "Why can't we win by more?!"

When the team is winning the World Cup: "Why can't we win every game and tournament?!" (German fans do moan too)

I'm not even exaggerating. Just ignore 'fans' like this.

Most important thing is to win, no matter how. Ugly, cheating, bribing whatever... Just win.

Does anyone care that Maradona scored with his hand? Or that Henrry sent France to the WC with his hand? Or that Arab teams pay off AFC and everything is in their favor? Or that Morinho plays the worst football everywhere but is successful anyhow?

First second and third priority is to win. There's no prize for "style".

But yeah if you win left and right and can afford to play nice and win, then go ahead play nice too. But make sure to win.

The only exception to that is, when you are "destined" to lose. Then it's better to go out, be courageous, give your best and keep it sportsmanship like. If you're going to lose then lose in style and be the morally victorious.

Honestly the last good major tournament which had both entertainement and quality was Euro 2008.
Every generaton's perceptions are tainted by nostalgia. I still think World Cup 1998 was the best World Cup. Kids who grew up watching this World Cup will think it was the best.
Older generation, by nature are not going to remember all the horrible games they completely forgot!

It's rather hard to believe how bold you are to even consider starting such a thread. Do you live on Mars man?

Fuck style, in the end of the day all that matters is a win and 3 points. Look what Portugal did in Euro 2016, they did’nt play a beautiful football but they got their results and won the Whole tournament.

              You ask:

Is it better to win in style?
              The answer is YES.

But the next logical question is:

Is it better to win ugly or lose in style?
              The answer is win ugly.

              QED.

f**k style, who gives a shit?

We played with style against Argentina and ended with 0 points that game. No one cares how many opportunities we get - history remembers winners.

It's always better to win, no debate.

Team Melli is the Lyoto Machida of Futball.

                  For MMA fans,

                  1. slow pace and boring

                  2. doesn't get hit/clean sheet.

                  3. backs up backs up, defends, and then explode counters.

sure, he is not the best anymore but thats because he is old. He was one of the best in his prime and managed to be the champ and beat the most aggressive and flashy fighters. From Evans to Ortiz, Mousasi to Rua.

Iran's strategem of little fouls really took the pulse out of the game. I don't know man. You can say a win is a win, but that just means when you don't win that you've drawn or lost in an ugly way. Against Argentina, Spain, etc it's understandable but Morocco, as good as they are individually, are not an unbeatable team for Iran. Iran could have played them like they did against Algeria, for example, which was much more positive
Maybe this is just the post-win high though, I don't know. I ran around the neighborhood after the goal. Now I feel about hollow.
We always played with the most style in the Asian Cups and were far and away the best team for many tournaments ... yet we won shit. We always complain we don't the necessary Asian Cup titles. You tell other Asians, Iran was the best team those Asian Cups, they will laugh at you say, "You didn't win any of the tournaments."

Look, there is a real emotional roller coaster with yesterday's game ... going from an incredible high to a low. It's natural. Your body cannot handle the incredible emotional high, and hits a low place to balance you out. Very normal. But don't use your own emotional state to say that we played the wrong football. We didn't, we played the right way.

The Greeks have won the 2004 the european Championship with a similar way of Football. So ask the Greeks whether they would swap the trophy for a few enjoyable games.

Or better yet, ask Iranians whether they would trade their enjoyable and attractive Asian Cup (style of play) tournaments for an Asian Cup title or two. ..

                          Yeah - exactly.

Not one football fan I know that is non-Iranian gives two shits how we played vs. Argentina. All they know is that we lostr and that we haven't won in 20 years until yesterday.

We were laughed at, now we now have some respectability. Let's grow this with wins and points!

to be honest, teams like Saudi Arabia, Panama, Peru, Tunisia should not be in the World Cup! But they do because they qualified for it! If you want a World Cup consisting of half of Europe and a bit South America, you can call it "The Commonwealth Cup" and enjoy it! Go ahead....
                              TEAM MELLI UNTIL THE END

                                Do we? By who?
Analysts and commentators that I have watched (non-Iranian) called the game dreadful.
