Portugal very lucky

Portugal the luckiest team. A Penalty,a de gea blunder and free kick gave them a point.
Horrible mls referee biased against Morocco. 100% penalty not awarded VAR wasn’t even called upon. Spain lucky goal against us.
Now we need a win against Portugal which are very beatable. Or for Morocco to beat spain by 2 and for us to draw. We didn’t have a real cam this game. Shojai coming in may have changed the game after we got scored on. His passes are by far the best. Good job boys. We showed we deserve to be in the world cup and we were just unlucky.

A draw is not useless. If we had tied, we would have been on 4 points and Spain on 2 points. Then Spain would have had to go all out against Morocco who have shown how offensively good they are. Then if we just tied Portugal and Spain tied Morocco, we would go through with Portugal. Even if we lost to Portugal and Spain tied with Morocco we would go through. So a draw would have been very good for us. Can't just assume that Spain beats Morocco especially if they were desperate with only 2 points after 2 games.

Wow. How good did this kid play? Just turned 22 years old. His 2nd cap. And he played cool as a cucumber against the best players in the world. We have found our CB duo for the next decade.

Don't expect an eliminated Morocco to put much challenge against Spain. It will be like us and Bosnia in 2014. Spain is all but gauranteed 5 pts had we drawn. We woulda had 4pts but they would be above us on GD and less bookings tie breaker even if we drew portugal. Portugal too would be on 5 and above us with a draw against them since they already have 4pts. Regardless today a win woulda done wonders. A draw meant we still had to beat Portugal. Still everything to play for. Must go for all out offense first.

I would have much rather seen us attack for 90 mins, with some decently experienced players then park the bus. Regardless, thank you to our boys for putting up a good fight and keeping the outcome respectable.

Respectfully we would have lost by a wide margin. Maybe wed get a goal and lose 4-1. We wouldn’t be able to keep up 90 minutes of open play with Spain dominating possession. We were just unlucky. Lucky goal for them. Spain showing why they are one of the best with the offsides trap against ezatollahi. Oh so close.

Lousy first half, great second half.

Lousy and even embarrassing first 50+ minutes. Great remainder of the match. We should have played like that to begin with and we may have stolen a point or three.

Why have all players in defence to enable the oponents to attack with 10 men none stop. Sardar should have at least stayed upfront so that to keep a couple of defenders so that they dont attack with 10 men. In addition when Iran recovers the ball they kick it back to them so that they can attack again and again. No one upfront to do anything with the return balls. That’s boring and embaressing soccer as if Iran is a super week team while we saw from the scond half they can play against the best. Defend but have at least one player upfront at all time for counter attack. Thats my two sense non pro openion. Cheers

Absolute pleasure to watch our boys executing their general's tactics meticulously, ..the rapid and precise shift in strategy when conceding the goal was just amazing to say the least.
As already stated, we can definitely beat Portugal..

That inside the box shot by Silva would never have been a goal tho, would go straight to Beirandvard and no way for him to shoot differently.
Double safe was a bit of his own fockup, as he should've just punched the ball outside. Technically speaking it wasn't even a double save, as the ref whistled for a freekick before anyways.

They had like 2 actual scoring chances and so did we (if don't don't include the offside goal as it was offside and hands by PAG before that, Ezzi didn't head the ball, PAG flicked it with his hand.)

Knowing that we have to go for a win now and seeing Portugal play like that against Marrocco, I still give us a chance to advance, who knows maybe even as the head of the group of marrocco manages a to get a draw against Spain.

The situation is a bit different from 2014 as Portugal still has something to win (head of the group) and a lot to lose.
