Our boys took the S out of Spain's SLICK football and made them look average. That is no mean achievement. If you don't give Spain room to play their own game they just become an average team. We made them look like an average team today. They were full of errors and had lost their ways. That is what our boys did. they did that because they are great players. Every team playing against Spain actually tries to do the same. But they can't. we could. Well done boys.

He wasted like 3 or 4 minutes of our time and stopped the game in the 97th minute.

We played an positive game and just lacked a little bit in finishing.

I hope taremi can pick himself up after that, he should be proud of himself.

bacheha vaghean mochakerim. You did your best. At the end of the day you were playing against all odds, against the whole world behind one gohnaldo. I am proud of you guys. Hope you learned a lot from these three matches and come back and do much better next time around. I know we will. Love to you all.

What a great World Cup! Very proud of Team Melli. We showed well against two of Europe's best, and undoubtedly demonstrated a progression from four years ago. I think some of our players will be picked up by European leagues.

Finally, thank you CQ! Anyone who thinks he isn't the best coach we've had in decades, is flat-out crazy. He needs to stay.

ps- For those of you armchair coaches who think Iran should have played (insert nonsense formation and tactics here), think again. If we had started the game playing open and going forward, we would have lost this game by two or three. In the second half we pressed a bit more, but it was obvious how tired we were towards the end, and I think that fatigue is why we missed our couple of golden chances to equalize and/or win the game.
