How can some of you guys say we weren't robbed? Did you even watch the game?

There was literally 2 penalties that FIFA and media are trying to sweep under the rug that were not given to us.

And I don't even care about the late BS penalty we got in stoppage time when it was too late, or the Ronaldo thing.

Giving a penalty in stoppage time when the game is over ain't worth anything.

I won't get into the game or WC itself, because the boys were sublime and I'm not worthy of any sort of judgement of their hard work and exemplary character.

I wouldn't say it was a "robbery", but probably just a lack of courage to make the right calls by the referee (similar to Argentina 2014).

For those who are trying to downplay TM's complaints - lets go through it one by one.

      1. Ronaldo Penalty - Fair play, it looked like some clean body to body IMO, but I can see it being called. HOWEVER, if that is called, then you have to be consistent and call the same thing for Azmoun when he got taken down in the box when he was winning a footrace to the ball. Those were both body to body tackles (ronaldo is just extremely proficient in dropping his body a certain way to make it seem more extreme - no complaints, he is good at it, so he does it). So if you called Ronaldo's, a courageous ref would have been consistent and called Azmoun's as well. That is one missed penalty for us. Where was VAR on this? Why not even a check?

      2. The elbow - to me that is a straight red. The ball was well away from PAG and Ronaldo, with nobody else around them. If you want to argue that Ronaldo was chasing the ball, my counter is that there was plenty of space and better options for him to take instead of tangling himself with PAG. He had no intention of getting the ball, he was hoping to draw a foul. Something snapped in his brain and he through an elbow/forearm out which hit PAG in the face. Red Card, I can't see any argument about this, ESPECIALLY because Ronaldo initiated the whole situation by trying "happening" to chase the ball right where PAG was.

      3. Handball - I have been saying for years I hate how defenders defend in the box with their arms flailing. You can't be non chalant about where your hands and arms are and then get mad when the ball hits you there. If the defenders arms had been out but at a <90 degree angle, I would say bad call. But his arms were adjacent to the ground, basically full 90 degrees, and there was no reason for them to be there. He wasn't even jumping, he was on the ground. His bad decision making with his arms cost a penalty. Go back and check my posts, I have always had this stance. Maybe I'm too strict with it, but at least it's consistent.

Overall we should have been the winners.

If I ever here Portuguese people complaining about diving or time wasting, it will be hilarious. They needed to waste time and dive against Iran (surprisingly Pepe was actually pretty fair in this game), and then come up with complaints.

I'm so pleased with the boys - all for team melli

exactly. that whole sequence took 5 minutes. started at 89, goal at 93. kick off at 94. whistle blown right when clock hit 97. so we got a total 3 out of 6 stoppage time minutes.

theres was two fouls on azmoun in 18 and one on AJB. but if its human error from ref, thats ok it happens. but how the other ten eyes from the VAR team 'misses' that is beyond me.

and as far as ronaldo goes, its either a straight red or nothing. like CQ said either my daughter is pregnant or not pregnant. kind of pregnant makes no sense.
        SHOW TIME!

We were robbed same way Sweden was robbed.

The problem itself isnt VAR, the problem is that the ref gets to decide when to use it or when to totally ignore it.

Also lets ignore that for a second and just THINK ABOUT HOW MANY MINUTES THE REF WASTED VARRING AROUND AND THEN THERE WAS NO ADDED STOPPAGE TIME FOR THAT? That itself was fishy as fuck we might not have won the game at the end but there should be proper stoppage time

I don't understand this. I warned everyone before the game that Portugal are cheating b******s and it was almost a given that Ronaldo would get himself into a situation where it looked like a penalty. I don't think it was a penalty but others with me thought it was. Ok fair enough, but it was more of a penalty than our penalty claim against them. But over all I thought this was quite a reasonable game otherwise and we actually did very well. How on earth could we call this a robbery!????

indeed I expected at least 2 minutes pf added extra time for his review of our penalty

To all of you Daei jan Napoleons: if they really wanted to screw us they could have given us multiple yellows and red cards.

We went yelling at ref way too often and way too aggressively, we made some harsh tackles (a couple of times with both legs and also "scissoring legs"). So we made it easy for a biased ref to screw us, yet we weren't.

The Ronaldo penalty was a 100% penalty (even though he went for it and was his only intention) and our penalty wouldn't have been given by some refs and without the VAR we wouldn't get it anyways.

So no we didn't get screwed. stopt it. just stop it.

^ ah good that we have some one who can not only read the mind of the ref remotely but is the representative of everyone......where were you all this time? Are you working for CIA or....?

No need to try and come up with justifications for why your opinion doesn't make sense. In the end the fact remains pure and simple: if he was biased and wanted to screw us he had more than plenty of opportunities he didn't made use of.

90% of people here are talking about the foul Carvalho made on Taremi in the box as well as Ronaldo's red card.
Ronaldo should have been given a straight red, or a 2nd yellow when he handballed around minute 90.
Its frankly insulting for you to call us Daei Jan Napoleonis when most people are aware that the stars of the game get away with alot more!
Its why a guy like Lebron James can travel in the NBA and get away with it. Or why Sidney Crosby is viewed as a crybaby or why CR7 and Neymar don't get ejected.

Precisely. If the situation was reversed and Pouraliganji had elbowed Ronaldo the Ref would have sent him off with no hesitation without the help of VAR.
