People have been really critical towards him for "being invisible" or not scoring as a striker. But those people simply didn't understand his role. For the first 14minutes William Carvalho was free to find space and pass around to the wings etc to create an opening. Team Melli saw this and adapted quickly. Azmoun went on to mark him for the rest of the game and Portugal needed to figure something new out.

I don't think anyone can question his work ethic & attitude, however the Iranian fans were more critical of his link-up play. He did have one or two decent knock-downs/chest control, but he did lose the ball/give the ball away few times. You have to remember that when you're chasing the game for so long, it's not easy making the right decision passing the ball. I do feel if we brought Gucci on, his link-up play or that clinical touch could have made a difference, that one extra pass, or that finishing touch..

He was quite decisive too. He heads the ball onto Cedric's hand giving us the penalty and he deflects the ball which brings Taremi's last chance shot. He even followed and if Rui Patricio couldn't save it he was there to put it in. He did lose a few balls which got me mad during the game but his role as a target man was perfect. I can only imagine how tough it must be for a striker whose team does not have the ball.

I am not sure who the third sub would have been in the last two game as Hajsafi had to come off injured in the Spain game and then came off against Portugal before he was sent off.

Even though he didn’t score in this match it was IMO one of his best ever performances. What he did off the ball and his execution on counters were all flawless he was causing all kind of panic all over the Portugal D line

With all due respect, what has Gucci done in the last year to deserve playing time? Gucci is the ultimate poacher type of forward, however his style doesn’t fit what a Team Melli needs. TM needs. A true number 9 and Sardar is the only one we have. Honestly I thought Kaveh should have got the nod over Gucci.

A lot of people criticized CQ because of the inclusion of Ashkan and Masoud. But I think the plan was to have some pro veterans in camp to keep the team together. The along with Gucci were there as a positive influence and leaders. As you can see our young guys are very emotional, it’s the things that Ashkan and Masoud do behind the scenes that is so inavlauable.

He was fantastic, Did’nt see Carvalho create anything beside the penalty we should have. All the players did much more than we expected and they deserved so much more. A real team and very compact and strategic, did everything right with the odds they had. All for TM, zendeh bad TM😍🇮🇷❤️

But at least I expect that Azmoun would making big score they call him everytime 'Messi' but he did not score in this World Cup. Azmoun moist bigest club want him but he did not show it at this World Cup in making goals. The some for Alireza Jahanbakhsh did not score but play good football even Azmoun did play well.
