Good timing by Gucci with the wealth of striking talent we currently have its a matter of time before he gets squeezed out of TM.

I will never forget this contribution to TM and how he saved our WC2014 Campaign with his last minute heroics vs SK. Gucci joined TM when we were in desperate need for a legitimate striker upfront, who knows how his career might have panned out if he hadn't transferred to Standard Liege \ Charlton \ Kuwait SC. But he fought back, scored a ton of goals at heerenveen and proved himself as a true Lion of Iran.

Wish him the best of luck with the rest of career, proud of him for retiring with his head held high and will continue to follow him until he hangs up his boots for good.

        No.
Stupid is the person who quotes somebody but only picks the part he wants to quote and not quote the whole item. This makes sense with everything else I said.

I'm obviously just a fan and not the coach but I was screaming his name in all three games. I think that Gucci had the potential to give our offense a much needed injection in all three games.

Taremis golden opportunity against Portugal might have been scored by his wonderful left foot.

Thank you for everything Gucci. Always in our hearts.

We already got Ghoddos, Azmoun, Kaveh Rezaei, Ansarifard and many more there truly aint no place left for him.
Yeah so Im shocked he has the balls to just retire like that.

Reza has always been the utmost professional. But if he's retiring because he didn't play in the World Cup, then it's a noticeable divergence from the character he's shown.

He's somewhat old, past his prime, had a down year at his club in a league that is notoriously easy to score in, hasn't played well for TM in recent memory, and barely made the WC roster ahead of an arguably more in-form striker in Kaveh..

CQ has instilled an atmosphere that nobody is above the team, and if the reports are true that he's upset that he didn't get playing time, then a savvy veteran that should be there to teach the youngsters to put team first may not be the best role model.

Your a typical Iranian fan, if it wasn’t for him kiss WC 2014 bye. That’s what I hate about Iranian fans always with short memories and talab kar.

What the hell does 2014 have to do with right now??

He saved our ass in 2014 Thanks, Does that mean you get to be a child now and make the headlines about yourself rather then the team.
Im 30 years old. id trade everything in my life to be in his shoes and wear that jersey.. Even to sit on the bench.. Even to bring water to Cq's Translator only... He is being a child right now and you are just looking at 5 goals not the big picture.. There is a place for Jabbari, Rahmati, and Aghili, Hope Gucci doesnt enter that place

If you look at every set piece that Iran had to defend you'll see how critical Azmoun was to CQ's plans and why he had played every single minute of every game of Iran's WC. Taremi and Ansarifard were also important in this way. As strikers though, Gucci was the least in form of Iran's offense coming into this WC, he hadn't performed well in the chances he got with the national team. It would have been a unnecessary risk to play him. I think he was taken ahead of Kaveh because of his experience with NT and understanding of CQ's plans in case a crisis with Azmoun emerged and someone else had to play, but that was all. 2014 was Gucci's WC, Azmoun was left out of the squad completely for him to shine - and he did.

There is more to it then him not playing in the World Cup.You don’t go from been a key player on the TM and then to a bench warmer. His still producing at his club so it’s not an age thing either trusts will come out in a few months as to why he left TM.

He probably feels like he won’t be useful for years to come and wants to move aside on his own terms. Very sad he’s an amazing striker and I’d think he’d at least stay for the AC

This is why you shouldn't get married. I have no doubt his wife had negative influence on him, especially after reading her insta post right after we crashed out.

I am a happily married man - but if I am a professional athlete getting millions - then LOL to marriage.

But on the other hand, marriage has worked real well for the likes of Kaveh Rezaei.

^^ So what though? You're accusing someone of being a "talabkar" and then saying Gucci deserved a spot on the field because he scored the goal that qualified the team to the finals in 2014. Do you realize how oxymoronic that statement sounds? Plus, Gucci was rewarded for his performances in the 2014 cycle by starting every game in the last WC and getting the honor of scoring one of only 7 goals in TM's history at the WC.

That's how the game works--you play your heart out, ride the wave as long as you can, and then someone else takes over. If you're not okay with that, you become another Azizi, Minavand, Karimi, Parvin, Rahmati: another loser who can't hack that he's past his prime.

Gucci is better than that and I respect his decision and thank him for his service. But, my overall reaction to his retirement and statement? Bye!

What I didn't like is how many of you already said, the timing and the way he explained his decision.
He is saying " aghlam, shakhsiatam va ghoruram ejazeh nemidan edame bedam". He clearly missed adding his wife.
Also the point that he is thanking everyone except Queiroz is a bit unprofessional, since he was the person who made him "our Gucci" and gave him a chance to show his talent.

Yes for sure we will never forget all his last minute goals that saved us in so many games and his calm character, but I really do not get why someone like Gucci is questioning the decision of his coach he worked so long with and owes so much, in public during this time.

Also with all respect, the way his wife started this discussion was so damn unnecessary and had an influence on his text.
Isn't there anyone who can tell her, that we have so many other players who could have played for Team Melli but had to sit on the bench and even this was for them, an honor & something to be proud of!
