I haven't looked at the road to final but if it has planned ahead, looks like FIFA + Sponsors + Betting syndicates love to see Messi vs CR7 in the final. So won't be surprised if Argentina and Portugal get all the help to reach that plan.

If that was FIFA's plan it never would have been halted with FIFA giving us a 93rd minute penalty. Without that penalty/goal Portugal would have finished first and avoided Argentina till the final.

The only group that was almost as bad was Group A that Saudi were in, but even that group had the hosts, which are a historically difficult team to beat and have never lost an opener (enter Qatar in 2022) and Uruguay (which are typically a very strong team). No way man. Japan should count their lucky stars. We always get the shit end of the stick when it comes to WC draws. I'm starting to think it's not so random. In 2014 we were in a group with the team who went to the Final -- Argentina, we got Nigeria who were CAF champs, and Bosnia who were mid-tier. In 2006, we got Mexico and fucking Portugal AGAIN. Iran and Iranian players such as Taremi had several chances but could not score. In Sweden game, their player had exact similar situation to Taremi, but he scored because he hit the target rather than shoot outside. Shooting outside has zero chance whereas shooting towards goal may result in a goal.

Iran had its changes. No complaining. Get better Asian games will start soon.

BUT when they told the ref to review the handball (and later gave us that penalty) Morocco was leading Spain 2-1 and even a draw was enough for Portugal to lead the group.

This is not the real African Championship. this is only a competition for players in local leagues. Morocco had a different squad in that competition.

even though I believe right now Morocco is the best team in Africa. much better than Senegal.

The African Championship is in odd years. The last one took place in 2017 with Cameroon winning it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_Cup_of_Nations

So why risk it with such a soft call? They would have finished first without our penalty/goal anyway.
