Reza Shekari @ Rubin Kazan (RUS) 2018-2019

Shekari is back in Rubin training camp after his summer break in tehran, where he participated in the TM Omid Camp. He has been playing a lot of football in the last year, with u20 WC where he was a star, then his move to rubin where his hard work payed off in some first team minutes by the end of the season, then involved heavily in TM Omid Camps with Krancjar, now back for Pre season in Rubin from beginning. This is a lot of high level training for a kid who was practicing alone in his local park to prepare for U20 WC just one year ago, as Zob ahan prevented him from training with the club. I am sure this practice has improved him a ton. I really think he will shine this year if he proves to berdyev he has improved enough defensively, physically, tactically, and has simplified his play enough to be trusted in his very rigid system. Rubin have already made some moves this off season, bringing in winger Bayramyan who will be a rotation player (played with Berdyev in Rostov), and Chico Flores, spanish CB who played for Swansea, other spanish teams. He is very experienced and solid CB. They are likely to permanently get Popov from Spartak Moscow. Overall I think they will be better than last year as historically berdyev always works magic in year 2.

He has already played in the latest friendly, where he started the match. He was wearing number 6.

highlights of 2-0 win, shekari wearing number 6.

If he kicks on, it is highly likely he will be introduced into TM given the retirement of Dejagah and Shojaei.
And lets hope this thread DOES NOT need to be expanded to include another certain player.

I’m so looking forward to following Shekari this upcoming 2018-19 RPL season.

Reza Shekari and Sadegh Moharrami will soon be joining their U-16 teammates Saeid Ezatolahi, Majid Hosseini, Ali Gholizadeh in Team Melli

Believe me when I tell you that Carlos Queiroz is shaping a strong Team Melli

lovely piece of skill by shekari at 0:25, great dribble, nutmeg assist, forward really should have converted. He started this match vs Admira Wacker (AUT) with the "A" team players (this set of players played first half). He is looking exciting!

With Shekari doing well he’ll come in clutch just in time to replace the wimp Azmoun lmao

started again as one of three central midfields in a 5-3-2 vs Hajduk. Played pretty well from what I saw. He is playing almost exclusively one touch in the middle now, really giving flow to the game, smart passes, participating in defense, and not getting bodied off ball anymore. If he starts for rubin in central midfield this season, he could very well make asian cup squad and give himself a decent chance at starting some matches. I like the look of this kid.

No matter how in form he is or how much he's progressed, I can't see him replacing Ghoddos in any game. Unless the latter gets to play as striker (now that Azmoun is gone). but even then Ansariafard is there to take that spot. Add to that Kaveh Rezaei too.....

Too much traffic. I'm afraid he may be put on the bench at best.

Against European opposition, maybe. But against Asian opposition, a ball playing central mid, who is very technical like shekari, can play alongside ghoddos ahead of ezatolahi . Or alongside hajsafi ahead of ezatolahi, with a front three of ghoddos taremi and ARJ.

He is currently playing as a CM for Rubin , NOT a CAM. If he improves enough off the ball it would actually be very useful to have another creative mid a bit deeper who can play make from further back, we have lacked it for so long. With his good height, 6 ft2, I am sure if beefs up a bit (he already has improved a lot in this aspect) he can play there for TM

He can easily play CM over Omid Ebrahimi and Hajsafi.. His ceiling is better than both

Maybe AC will be to early for him, we will have to see his performances in league for Rubin. But overall by the next qualification cycle , I expect him to be pushing for starting spot in the midfield

Honestly we currently do not have anyone in TM like Shekari. The guy might be playing CM for Rubin, but he is a true 10. Very technical kid. Definitely not a holding mid, so you can play him in front of Saeid.

Yep, massively excited about Reza from the little I've seen of him. Probably the best positioned prospect within our pool currently thanks to having Berdyev's trust and support. With Masoud and Ashkan nearing the end, he'll have plenty of opportunity to win a spot in the squad at the least and given Amiri and Ebrahimi are currently our starting midfielders, I don't see why he can't force his way into the starting XI within 12 months.

Very important point though; we do need to clarify what our strategy as a community (and as a nation) is going to be with regards to him assisting goals for Azmoun. Can we celebrate such moments or are we best served spamming Reza's IG with insults to make clear our stance?

Shekari's time will perhaps arrive a little later than twelve months because we already have Saman Ghoddos in his position as the attacking midfielder.

Dont understand why people say his time will come his time will come...
He is already 20! And I hope he gets this season much more playing time in his team! Perhaps also a call up for TM.

We need to get young players to our TM. We start using our players when they are already old. But with the talents we have it will change soon.

assuming he becomes a somewhat regular starter for Kazan upon regular season, his invite will come shortly after..!!
no reason he couldnt be in the running for our AC squad if he gets somewhat regular minutes in RPL this year..!!

Naturally, he is a damn quality AM, who's being dressed to play a more defensively stout holding than an attacking-mid position ..!! nearly a perfect fit for CQ to replace his shallow depth, aging CM..!!
