Hi, another Brighton fan here, just wanted to come and say how excited we all are about bringing Jahanbakhsh to Brighton! He is a player we have wanted for a long time, 3 years in fact, and apparently we have been in contact with him/his agent almost weekly over that time according to his agent.

    http://sportwitness.co.uk/leicester-...e-player-told/

Have heard from Iranian football fans that he is a really warm and humble guy, and having listened to him in some interviews that seems very true. He has also been very flattering about our club, which is really nice for us to hear from such a talented and coverted player.

Really impressed with the passion of Iranian football fans too, it's great to see, that is something you guys have in common with us Brighton fans!!

New season starts in just over two weeks, can't wait to see our new Iranian star in action!

I know you can't Read Chris Hughton's mind, but from what you know of his coaching style and the current roster you have, do you think we'll see Alireza in the season-opener against Watford?

My prediction is that he will not start at Watford. The reason is Hughton talks a lot about players starting their pre-season late (so everyone who was at the World Cup, or who has been injured) and needing to "get minutes in them". He has been on holiday since the World Cup so will be starting training now so he is a few weeks behind most of the squad. We have a very good sports science team who will only advise Hughton that he can play when he has hit their targets. The favourites to start wide in the first game are Knockaert and March but we might see ARJ from the bench. His first start will probably be in the Carabao Cup.

although he seems in top form and fitness currently, i still fear it will take him a bit of time to bed-in and adjust to vastly improved defenses and increased pace and physicality of EPL ..!
nontheless, he is a highly driven, hard working and dedicated professional footballer and i have no doubt he will sooner than later make the necessary adjustments and will perform at top levels for your club..!
personally, im Super excited to have another iranian in my favorite and IMO, the most Challenging league in the world..!
We won't be expecting a hat trick on his debut, don't worry. CH will look after him and we will probably see him really take off after he has settled in for a few months. Some things are worth waiting for! The PL is a massive step up, and the pace of the English game can be a steep learning curve for some. Ali looks like he can handle it though. UTA.

Difficult to say, it depends on a few things. It usually takes a little time to settle into a new team, also we are playing away which will make the game a little tougher as a first appearance. Chris Houghton is pretty patient when it comes to new players, he likes to give them time to settle and come up to speed with things. But Jahanbakhsh will likely have a chance to show his quality at some point before the season starts in a friendly, and it's not impossible that he would play.

I think it's more likely that he will be a sub for that game and maybe come on depending on how the game is going. I think the most likely thing is that he will have his first start at home at the Amex, we are generally very good at home and play with a lot more freedom.

It's hard to say though, he is competing with Knockaert for a place and knockaert finished last season very well, but after having a difficult time most of the season. If for any reason Knockaert can't play, or if he isn't having an impact on the game I can see Jahanbakhsh getting an opportunity from the bench even in the first game of the season, but these things depends on lots of factors so it's hard to predict. I don't know how Chris sees it but for me Jahanbakhsh could also cover for Gross (no 10 behind the striker), so he could also come on if Gross gets rested late in the game which sometimes happens.

Personally I want to see him playing for us as soon as possible, I can't wait!

right... forgot about the number of international appearances you must have first before being able to transfer to an EPL club..!!

PAG is a massively under-rated CB and he extremely eager to gain interest from such a league and a smaller club that will afford him the game time to prove his quality..!
and off course, there is Sardar, easily our most talented footballer, but simply still trapped in his teen years mentality and stuck in a shitt fitness & form for over a year...! off course he will also cost a pretty penny and doubt Brighton currently need a goal-getter ? nor could afford another such $igning..?

Iranian fans after the 1st match of the season with Jahanbakhsh remaining on the bench:

"Fuck Chris Houghton, his ammeh (aunt) and his dog, he's a racist fvck who hates Iranians. Also screw Brighton, I'm burning my jersey and will never watch a football match again!"

I remember when Ali Daei was playing at Arminia Bielefeld in Bundesliga, they also created a song for him.
Whenever he scored a goal, they sang the “Boney M” song “Hooray Hooray its a holi holiday...” and changed into “Hooray, Hooray, its Ali Ali Day...” lol

Thanks for the warning. We've got plenty of these too. Commonly known on NSC as "bedwetters".

on LCFC chat site, since many had difficulty with pronouncing Jahanbakhsh, a fan came up with a brilliant song .....forgot how it went but it was to the tune of "Paul Simon - You Can Call Me Al "

Great interview with ARJ about his decision making and logic...lots of maturity in this guy!

Why Brighton and Hove Albion move might not be biggest challenge of Alireza Jahanbakhsh's career so far

Btw don't remember if it was mentioned earlier or not but with €25M he's not only a record purchase, he's also a record sale for AZ as Janssen was sold for €20m

That makes him the number 9 on the top 10 Eredivisie transfers ever.
