Reza’s frustration and sudden retirement did not surprise me. when the coach does not trust you after all you have done for him, its time to leave. we needed 11 professionals on the field for that game, CQ was happy with 10. just remember if you ever find yourself questioning CQs decisions: this is profe$$ional football.
But it was clear that the pressure of the environment and need to get results affected azmoun, especially off the pitch where he was kind of a wreck.

Shekari was only in tehran for a quick trip. He returned after the weekend to Kazan where he is training with the rest of the non-international players. I think his hard work will be rewarded soon with more and more minutes. Berdyev talks glowingly about him in interviews. He will not have same issues as sardar, he came from a very poor background in Southern Tehran, and had to fight tooth and nail to be in shape for U20 WC where he was outstanding, and then to get his transfer out of iran. He trained in a local park to prep for that WC just a year ago. His mentality is strong and im sure if he continues like this he will improve tremendously.
I mean, in less than 1 full year, he went from training alone in his local park to being the best player vs Zenit for Rubin Kazan. Clearly you must be a special talent to do that, pretty sure sardar himself didnt even integrate into kazan first team until after multiple years with youth side.

You don't talk like this about your players if they are not a part of your future plans. Expect Sardar to be back by next camp.ما میمیریم میمیریم ایران رو پس میگیریم

While Azmoun was indeed mentally stretched playing all three games, i dont think anybody can truthfully say he played poorly. His work of the ball basically man marking the defensive midfielder was phenomenal and something gucci could not have done. His link up play and aerial game was great as well. He got us the PK in the portugal game .

Did we expect him to score multiple goals, while defending around our penalty box for 75 out of 90 minutes / game?
Like you said, he won several key headers, such as the penalty he won, and also some important defensive headers in our box, and not to mention, he won the header that ended up giving Taremi that chance vs. portugal.
He worked hard and his man marking in the portugal match was great, they even posted it on reddit soccer...too bad the video has been taken down due to copywright. In fact, the guy who posted this wasn't even Iranian.
Here's the thread but WITHOUT THE VIDEO: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comm...field_for_the/
The same guy posted this comment from the Portuguese coach:
Fernando Santos said this after the match:
"We had a great start, on top, with great ball circulation. Iran had a difficult time. When the center forward started marking William man to man, we went through some trouble.
We corrected what we had to after the break, with William lowering to the center defenders. We had control of the match until the penalty. After that Iran started believing"
We need to give Azmoun way more credit, and respect his personal issues and decisions. We don't know exactly what's going on in his personal life, and should support and encourage him to come back, instead of calling him names.
