I am actually more realist than most of you guys, PAG just realizing he is not playing in Qatar or IPL anymore. I am not saying he is a bad CB, no, he isn't. He is actually one of the best produced in our football in last 10-15 years or maybe more. I know he has fitness issues and missed the training camp, language issues, etc but from what i saw in last two matches, he looked very nervous. We are talking about a bottom table Belgian team not a team in top league though!

I still beleive some people here overvalue our players.
You just literally explained the reasons why he looks nervous, yet you say we overrate him... Things take time. Its rare for a player to seamlessly integrate into a team, ESPECIALLY a weaker team fighting for survival. You judge our players on too much of a game to game basis. This guy has proven he is up to it vs the very best in the world.

        Morteza Pouraliganji @ Eupen | 2018 - 2019

Iran_19 got a point. The reality is that in an ultra-defensive formation like TM, players like PAG can look really solid because they sit deep for most part of the games. In contrast to his new team who goes forward and leaves a lot of space in the defense, it comes down to 1 vs 1 individual defensive skills.

CQ can make IPL defenders like Cheshmi, Hosseini, Montazeri, Sadeghi etc look world class.

Exactly, CQ system makes many keepers and defensive players look better than what they are. Pretty much all of CB looked great in CQ system, same as keepers.

I never said that you think our players are bad but I have noticed in other threads (abedzadeh and Ansarifard stick out in my memory) after one or two bad performances you question players leveles which IMO is really unfair. It was PAG’s first minutes in European football and as you touched on he was out of shape/form for not playing for so long which has more to do with the unimpressive performances rather than him being “not as good as we think”.......no offense but that logic is so skewed if you’re basing it off of his two performances in Eupen.

If anything a certain system can bring out the best qualities in players, Pouraliganji is a quality defender and you don't have to be a football expert to see that. I'm sure it was also CQ who stopped Ronaldo's penalty

He might not be a good fit for Eupen, but that doesn't mean he is not good enough to play in Europe. Eupen is a horrible team, and there is not much one (quality) defender can do about that. He should have played for Anderlecht or Club Brugge or Standard Luik instead, but he didn't have any offers, Eupen was the best one sadly.

Feel free to miss the point: Haghighi, Rahman Ahmadi, and pretty much every single CB who played in CQ looked like a star at some point. Most of our right and left backs also looked very solid. Same as DM. We defend as team which make defensive guys look much better than what they are actually.

They are playing in cup now, can't find the lineup though, so no idea if he's in the lineup...

Edit: found it and he's not in the squad...

I did not miss your point, it's just that i don't agree with it. Furthermore, Rahman Ahmadi only played a few games, where he did well but wasn't a star, and i for one was never impressed by Haghighi as he certainly had his fair share of blunders. Montazeri and Pouladi were good defenders\solid right and left back, with that i mean they have a good basis which a coach can work with.
To give you a good analogy so you can understand my point: I remember a certain Lionel messi who had a bad World Cup performance (by his standards) for Argentina, following your logic, your argument would be that he is not as good as people think because in Barcelona he plays in a good system which make it seem as if he is one of the best players in the world (as if the system somehow magically gives him abilities), but i point out that your argument is incorrect and has flaws, and make my counter argument which is that the reason he flourishes and is able to show his quality (as rightfuly one of the best players in the world), is precisely because of the system that he plays in Barcelona, whereas at Argentina he plays in a bad system, or a system where he is not able to function properly and display his abilities. And you can apply the same to Pouraliganji, if he plays in a team with a bad system where it is difficult to function, he will not be able to showcast or display his qualities as a qood defender. Hope you understand the flaws in your argument better now
