You really think so ? Last season they were basically tied for LAST place. Thy only were okay based on goal difference (-17 instead of -18) lol... They are in last position right now!

Just saying Pouraliganji can be the difference for them. No one really knows how it's gonna play out though. The good news is it's just a two year contract so even if the relegate this year they will want to sell him for some cash next summer.

The easy thing here is to go with the flow ... I choose to support PAG and stand for him being an agent of change and help the coach turn this team around ... in addition to his defensive prowess, he could also score on set pieces as he has done many times in the past and help the offense ... we really don't have all the facts about other offers and we could only speculate ... I wish Morteza and his new team well and hope that he makes the best of this.

          Go Morteza!
          Go Eupen!

P.S. Remember all that was said about many of our current favorite TM stars (e.g. Amiri, Ezatollahi, Beyranvand) in this forum just a few months ago? "Those who don't learn from their mistakes are bound to repeat them" Of course, without making mistakes we can never grow either so there is a win-win at the end of this for all of us

317 post thread for it to end with Eupen

On a serious note though, the Makelele point could be a big positive, do well and Makelele will almost certainly get a solid Ligue 1 job due to his name which Morteza can follow him into if he establishes himself, gains Claude's trust and performs like we know he can.

Constantly trying to find a positive in every single thing is really just irrational. Pouraliganji went to China saying it was a “bridge to Europe” and people said the same type of “if” “maybe” type of stuff. His bridge to Europe then led him to Qatar and people tried to again make some positive with xavi and his ability to get morteza a transfer to La Liga. Now he’s going to be playing for a team that is weaker than the team Naderi, a slightly above average tractor defender, transferred to. It’s better to just not fool yourself and accept that Pouraliganji just really likes money and is surrounded by poor advisors. This is a bad move no matter how you look at it.

I could end up being wrong about what I said and I will take responsibility for that ... and I guess it is your right to call it irrational by referring to past arguments with which I had nothing to do The world is quite a cynical place and in a sense all of us are part of the cynicism and all of us are responsible for what we have created. All of us also have a choice (wether we know it or not) to freely select after all the considerations. I am not aware of the figures behind this deal so the money was not part of my considerations

While I agree that trying too hard to be positive can irrational. It's also irrational to put those down for being positive and spreading negativity. What happens if he excels at Eupen and accepts a move to a quality club. While it isn't a great move, it's ten times better than staying in Qatar or going signing for Tractor like some legionnaires.

This is basically the shittiest move to Europe possible.

No, he could have signed for much worse teams in much worse leagues. Panionos in the Greek league was an equal level if not worse, but Ansafarid shined there and left for a bigger team

I think the quality of our discussions in this forum will noticeably improve when more members start to use facts and/or some rhyme and reason when they pass judgements (and there are quite a few harsh ones around here ) For example, when we say 'the shittiest move to Europe possible', it will be useful to know why and based on what line of reasoning we say that. Of course, opinion is seemingly cheap (it is not free since there are always consequences when it is expressed ) and within the confines of the rules of the forum pretty much anything goes yet it will be great to have more quality.

Yeah but Ansarifard was coming off the worst season of his life with 0 goals, he had nothing to lose. This guy just came from an epic WC.

This is terrible, i can't understand how one of Asia's best defenders can't get a better offer?!

I think this transfer had to do with how Kaveh rezaei scored 2 goals and gholizadeh assisted one when they played Charleroi. They probably realized they need to get an Iranian!

You make some good points, but we, as fans, just don't know the facts. We don't know what concrete offers, if any, PAG had.

Trabzonspor was surely interested, but apparently, they wanted to play him at DM, which PAG rejected. Other than that, there haven't been any rumors of concrete interest. The BHA and Leeds rumors were far from concrete.

I am also disappointed by this move because I know PAG deserves better, but I also won't judge him because we know how the market treats Iranian players and it's possible that he really had no better offers. Rezaian had a very good WC and is still stuck in his crappy Belgian club. Karim had a good WC, and was second in the league in scoring and is now riding the pine. Ehsan isn't even on his club's matchday squad. Ezzat was a beast and killed it vs Spain and Portugal yet he's not even on Rostov's roster. Azmoun is withering away in Russia. PAG shut down some of the best strikers in the world and presumably doesn't have one concrete offer from a good club for his position of choice.

Some of these surely could be self-inflicted due to poor choices, agents, and advisers. But we just don't know for a fact, so we can't really judge.
