Being a CQ critic does not equate being a supporter for domestic coaches for the top job. It's sad that this point needs to be reiterated constantly for CQ fanatics.

Baba you can't win AC by defending against the likes of qatar & uzbekistan. We're no longer in the same dire situation we were 8 years ago - talent wise - in part thanks to CQ that we NEEDED TO DEFEND. We can bring in a bigger named coach with a better resume that will consolidate the tactics based on the attacking talent that we have.
Comparing Daei to Hashemian or Mehdi is unfair. Mehdi and Vahid have been learning to coach in a professional environment for the past 3-4 years, whereas Daei got his coaching experience in Iran. I much rather give professionals like Mehdi and Vahid a chance than some journeyman foreign coach like John Toschak or Wilfried Schaefer who we would have to overpay.

Appointing Nekonam as the head coach would be more comparable to the Daei appointment.

I know CQ won't be here forever my man, but those were not good choices for replacements (although it will be difficult to find a good replacement in general). Only Winfried might be a good choice in a year or 2 but he will be 70 at the time.

Right, AC 2015 - so 3 years ago. Is it fair to say we only defend against asian teams when the most solid examples we can think of are three years ago? What did we do in all the games vs Asian opposition since then?

Unfortunately lately mind games seem to be CQs only tactics of note lol

CQ is someone who coached Real Madrid and had already 2 WC experiences with 2 different national teams before he came to Iran.

If we are to replace him, we need to have someone with at least a similar resume. Hashemian and Mahdavikia, coaching youth and B teams in Germany are not enough for TM.

They need to have at least been "head coaches" of bundesliga senior teams for ca. 10 fairly successful years" to be even considered for TM.

Sorry but after CQ, we need to set the bar much higher than that!

Hashemian an Mahdavikia need to coach some European clubs first. Way better for their careers as well.

I didn't know Korea had their own version of Angelina?!

In all honesty why are you guys going so far? Markar, Omid Namazi are just a few who must be cheaper and have learned from CQ.

Even Alex Nouri can have a go at it. We have the luxury of testing the waters and time following AC.

Heck I bet you we could get Papa Berdyev in a heartbeat and the added bonus of Sardar coming back to TM

Last friendly vs Uzbekistan or Syria in the last qualifier? Don't remember the line ups though.

She's too old. But you're the underdog so don't give up.

Back when Mexico was a crappy soccer country they hired Bora Milotinovic to guide them in the 1986 World Cup. His specialty, much like CQ, is squeezing results out of relatively weak hands that he has been dealt, regardless of whether it's pretty or ugly performance. With him Mexico advanced to the quarterfinals. He repeated this method of getting results with other weak countries (Costa Rica in 1990, USA in 1994) by playing defensively yet advancing from their group. After the 1994 World Cup Mexico rehired Bora and although he qualified them for the 1998 World Cup, Mexico sacked him before the World Cup as they considered themselves strong enough to not need such tactics to succeed. They will not be going down that route again.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

This is the first time I am posting a message here, and I hope to continue doing so because I am a fervent supporter of Team Melli. While mindful of needless speculation, I still have to say I wish my first message would have been in response to a more favorable development in Iranian soccer. But even though a number of other high profile coaches are in the hunt for Mexico top job, at this juncture, hiring Queiroz to lead that team probably makes good sense for them.

If you look at Mexico's performance in Russia, you will find a team with tremendous passion and drive but insufficient defensive cohesion and grit. Their performances simply echoed their fans' zealous cries of "Si se puede" and the team's commitment to defy all odds in the absence of available talent and preparation at the highest level of competition. In games against South Korea and Sweden, Mexico invariably showed a lack of defensive depth and creativity, and even their strong performance against a diluted German side was marred by occasional lapses of judgment on defense. In hindsight, they barely defeated a vastly uninspired team.

In soccer, successful offense emanates from great defense. Just look at Iran vs Mexico in 2006, where Iran, in the first half, displayed an impressive all-around game but, in the second half, completely abandoned defending, including a costly goalkeeping error, and lost the game. Mexico now realizes that their game, too, has a defensive hole in it, and they might have just committed themselves to enlisting the services of the ultimate expert in that area to vastly improve their team. Let's not forget that, should Queiroz decide to take the job, simply because of the availability of ample talent and firepower to him, he might be able to garner a far better result than he would otherwise do with an Asian side. (His strategy would easily catapult Mexico to the top of the chart in North and Central America.)

Let's hope that the Iran federation finds a way to lure him back, because Iran, with its abundance of young talent, and after an impressive showing in Russia, have never been closer to winning the Asian championship and, for the first time in its history, making it out of the group stage in Qatar-should the team qualify, of course.

I hope that the love and respect afforded to Mr. Queiroz by his players in addition to millions of passionate young Iranian fans remains a major factor in his decision making about his future.
