Yeah people here love to hate on him. He fought really hard to make the defender lose the ball to Gholizadeh, who then scored.
Nobody points this out though, just the fact that he lost the ball on the other end of the field before we got scored on by an average shot due to piss poor keeping.

This is not only Khiabani's fault. he is just a bit stupid to believe what media trying to feed people in past couple of months.

if you follow Iranian media (I mean news websites, TV etc) there isn't a day without couple of interviews against Queiroz. of course Queiroz and his assistants are also guilty here but this is just disgusting the amount of nonsense against him. if you just read these news without knowing a shit about football. you will think Persepolis under Branko plays the most beautiful football and our TM just gets some results based on pure luck.

for example this is the fresh interview with "expert" Hadi Tabatabaei who claims "به جز یکی دو مورد چیز خاصی از تیم ملی دیده نشد"

Khiabani was an absolute disaster today, for once I actually turned down the volume of a TM match. He sounded like somebody who's had his GF stolen by CQ. Honestly, He should not get away with such terrible commentary again.. Before it was about his incompetence and lack of football knowledge and now, 6 weeks before the Asian Cup, turning against the best thing that's ever happened to our National Team is an absolute disgrace.

He also was in perfect position to score on Gholizadeh's cross, but the keeper made a great (lucky) save.

Iran vs Venezuela (November 20, 2018)

The service to Azmoun (apart from a sitter from Gholizadeh) was pretty oweful. All together, TM mid-field & offense didn't seem to have any obvious plan. As for Azmoun loosing the ball, it was the flat TM defense who got caught on their heels leading to the goal. I also wouldn't say that the goal was Abedzadeh's fault. He had no view of the shot going between Ramin's legs.

            Work horse: Taremi, Amiri
Effective: Gholizadeh, Torabi, Shojaei, MM, Tartemi
Ineffective: Ghodoos, AF, Dejagheh, Azmoun (little service), Amiri (did not contribute to an effective offense), CQ (not sure what he was trying to achieve - not the prettiest game to watch, especially with that Khiabani's psyco analysis)
I wanted to see more time with Kaveh.
.... At the end I am nothing other than ordinary

Not a great game from most of our players. Abedzade and the 2 CDs shouldn't start in AC. Torabi and Gholizade were a breath of fresh air again. Azmoun pour again.
Azmoun, poor? Did we watch the same game?

Shojaie was brilliant. Golizadeh the most energetic.

The players including CQ looked tired.
They need to stay for a week at a luxury spa.Somehow I don't think perks like these are available for our boys...

Do people think that was actually a penalty? Looked like a clear dive to me on the replay and I actually agreed with the VAR decision

This game was a friendly and Iran in general is not known to be a high performer in these sorts of games. That said, fitness appeared to be a major problem again. Whether it is the players themselves who don't have the zeal or their clubs that dont demand it, but this team will have a serious problem against the likes of Australia or Japan who are match ready. This makes it very challenging for any coach to implement game stratgey or new tactics. We also seem to have a drop in caliber of our players. Rameen, Mehrdad, Taremi, Azmoun. They are simply not performing at least at is expected from a NT player in their position. People are also talking about change in strategy ..which is really dependent on whether you have the players who can execute .. I would not be surprised if CQ decides to revert back to the defensive formation. We just don't have enough good players. So, what I am saying here is that today's game was a bit of a red alert. I trust CQ's abilities but he is not a magician.

In my opinion we played a good game if you consider the fact that vnezuela ist a good opponent for us and that major players like morteza, majid, jahanbaksch, ezza and beiranvand were missing. that is half of our team and major core in this TM. also considering the fact that 4/10 players in the starting lineup play in the very little demanding sunday qatar league with khanzadeh, ramin, taremi and omid you can tell that they might not be on their hihest level of their performance also looking at ramin who hasnt played competitive football in 5 months. you could really see his lack of matchfitness. half of the team were missing and we had chanced to score atleast 3-4 goals. in my opinion the taremi situation was a foul. he kicks him in his heels. even if its was not a monster fould its still a foul. maybe taremi was just unlucky that he fell a bit to dramatic. i wish kaveh got the chance today. karim is just not good enough for in my opinon. he is a good boy and a fighter but i feel like he is not really good at anything. he is not the deadly finisher and striker, not the super dribbler and not really winger either.

Moving forward, I think this is undoubtedly our best lineup. What do you guys think

                        -----------------------Beira-------------------

                        Moharrami-------PAG-----M.Hosseini-------Milad

                        ------------Ezatolahi-------Ebrahimi-----------

                        Gholizadeh----------Ghoddos-------------ARJ

                        ----------------------Azmoun-------------

Subs: Abedzadeh, Kanaani, Amiri, Kaveh Rezaei, Torabi, Taremi, Shojaei, Dejagah

                          No
The defender clearly stepped on his heel..!it was a clumsy, slight foul but a pk worthy foul nonetheless, perhaps in a more competitive game though ..!
Taremi’s Delayed Fall to the ground made it look like a dive & probably was the main reason why ref overturned the PK call after looking @ VAR..!?
He is strong fellow & doesn’t go down easy, but clearly not clever enough to take a timely flop to legitimately earn that PK

Hard to argue with that but I fear Saeed won’t be fit in time & not so sure ARJ worthy enough of a Starter, seeing as he frequently struggles to fit in TM’s system of play ..! Gholizadeh also must yet prove his consistency, so that’s a maybe too ..!
Sardar also needs to shake off the dust on his scoring touch & step up his intensity, as we got a hungry & hardworking Kaveh biting @ the chance to lead the line or challenge ARJ/Taremi/Ansarifard/Gholizadeh for Wing or dropback striker position..!
IMO we still need 3-4 more test matches to better assess our best 11 ..! Good thing is that some of our earlier group games can also serve as such tuneup games..!

TM can't just change tactics from all defense to offense over night and that's why we are smuggling in finishing.
TM has had 4 friendlies so far and will have 2 more before the start of AC , however ,we will not see the true
offensive potential of TM until the knockout stages.
                                This process takes time.

finishing has nothing to do with tactics. our forwards are horrible. how the fck does azmoun miss a sitter 3 ft away from the goal? others like karim and taremi can't ever execute a 1 v 1. striking should be second nature to these guys and they can't bury a goal. karim scored last week, but lets be honest he had 5 chances to score, eventually one was going to go in. only Gucci was capable of scoring goals and did not waste glorious opportunities.

its time to either call gucci back or give kaveh a start on the upcoming friendlies. he deserves it
