lets see what happens. the offer or interest was never a big secret. but what i not true that he already signed anything with them. i think as mentioned before he would actually like to stay in iran if they offer him a contract. lets see how we do in the AC 2019 and how we will proceed. i still havent given up on the fact that he might stay.

Honestly it would be a suprise. Colombia plays really attractive football, doesn't go with CQs style of defensive counter attacking football (against better teams). If we win the Asian Cup then he will surely have alot of suitors but still don't think Columbia matches his style.

Iran coach Carlos Queiroz said Friday that he was "honored" to be courted by Colombia, who want the former Real Madrid boss to join them after the Asian Cup.

But the Portuguese, who has been Iran coach for eight rollercoaster years, insisted that he remains committed to bringing Asian football's biggest prize back to the country for the first time in more than 40 years.

"There's no doubt that Colombia expressed its interest and confidence in me," Queiroz told AFP in an interview before Iran face Oman in the last 16 at the weekend.

"It is an unbelievable national team with fantastic players and a very high FIFA ranking (12) -- it's prestigious, an honour and something that makes me very proud.

"But at the moment my responsibility is with Iran," added the 65-year-old, who almost steered Iran to the knockout stages of last year's World Cup in Russia.

"After the Asian Cup I will take into consideration for sure Colombia's invitation."

Despite Team Melli's strong World Cup showing, Iranian football authorities opted not to offer him a new four-year contract -- a decision that stung the former Portugal coach.

"I was a little bit surprised to be honest," he admitted. "These circumstances weren't created by me -- it was the decision of the federation.

"Coaches have their futures in the hands of presidents," shrugged Queiroz. "They want to move in another direction and for sure I will find another solution too."

Iran are joint Asian Cup favourites with South Korea and Queiroz praised the desire and determination shown by his players despite the turmoil caused by sanctions imposed on the country.

Breaking up is never easy, and Queiroz feels a special bond with his players.

"I try to select players who put the shirt above everything," he said.

"I love the players -- they never quit, they are strong characters, they always want to improve, they fight. They are so dedicated to the country and the shirt. This is probably one of the strongest football families I ever met in my life."

Iran's failure to lift the Asian Cup since completing a hat-trick of victories in 1976 is something of a mystery.

But Queiroz's players look capable of ending that title drought after topping Group D, where victories over Yemen and Vietnam were followed by a goalless draw with bitter rivals Iraq.

"Nobody puts more pressure on us than me and our players," insisted Queiroz.

"But we won't fall into the trap of becoming tense, or lose control, because of the dreams that we have in front of us."

I wouldn't go that far. If he wins, we'll have confederations cup and WC. CQ is out Irooni-ing the Iroonis. He's a master negotiator. He's using both his success in Asia Cup and the Colombia offer to get Iran to give him a big contract offer(if he wins AC they'll be a lot of pressure on the federation to renew his contract). Whether he uses that offer to in turn get Colombia to raise the stakes is something we'll have to wait and see.

There definitely seems to be a smear campaign going on in Iran by those who would benefit from his departure, though.

It seems that your English is on par with Khiabani. He said the head of the sporting ministry didn't want IFF to renew his contract. I'm not even sure it's up to that guy whether or not they renew his contract. He may be in charge of allocating funds for the contract and the IFF as a whole, though (not sure how it works in Iran), so CQ is putting him and the sporting ministry on the spot, because it seems as though Taj's hands are tied atm.

I Highly doubt it !Have you seen his interview?? sadly its the end of CQ ( in Team melli) , specially after what he said about irans regime and the the people running it. That part of the interview was censored but pretty sure the sepahi and basiji have seen it. I always try to be positive but this time is political issue. IRanian Regime have already planned his depature.


And if you think people can pressure government , sadly i have to say people can do crap , they filtered telegram , and facebook and people didn't do crap. They will filter CQ without any issue.
