    Well, my unpopular opinion about gohroosh is that he completely crippled our attacking style of football. Played with 11 behind the ball for 8 years except for this Asian Cup. And he wasn't even the first guy that brought this style to Iran. If you remember Iran played the exact same way vs Korea in the 2011 Asian Cup under Ghotbi. Not much to it. Get 11 guys. Make sure they're behind the ball, compact, cover each other and occupy key zones. It's a great way to frustrate your opponents and demoralize them if they can't score in the first 60 mins. And you can freely muster up a quick counter upon possession. That's his legacy at the helm for 8 years.
    And as you saw against Bosnia, and more recently Japan. If TM concedes a goal, they had absolutely no comprehensive attacking plan. No possession, passing accuracy and the number of passes is beyond pathetic. Our Midfield is a joke. Cause it's essentially non-existent. Infact, one of the reasons we got thumped by Japan was because we took out our own midfield by lobbing the ball to Sardar, instead of utilizing the mid-field and the wingers. Then people complain about ARJ being invisible. When your only attacking plan is lob the ball forward and hope for the best this is what you end up getting. Even Ali Parvin was a more competent football coach than gohroosh.
    The only good thing about him is that he killed bazikon salari, and insisted on having a good pitch. That's it.
    The bad things? International press conferences shitting on Iran. Underdog mentality. You get called the underdog enough times then you start acting like the underdogs and your players get nervous against lowly Japan. Friendlies against Somali pirates, and palestine instead of big teams that would actually boost the players confidence and give them invaluable experience and exposure. Division. Lack of respect. Spent the better part of the year outside Iran. Didn't go to watch any of PGL matches in Iran. Didn't consult any of the coaches about their players, their conditions, etc. Instead started a fight with every coach that won an IPL title. Need I go on?
    And I love how people keep saying he brought discipline into the team. You saw this discipline with Pouladi's grassrolling vs Iraq 4 years ago. And 5 people on the pitch vs Japan that stopped playing in order to bully the ref. Peoples opinions on this charlatan is going to change for the worse with the passage of time. Once they slowly take off their rosey IR MEDIA king CQ glasses off and smell the coffee. We have an incredible crop of highly technical, and motivated players. We're going to do big things without him. He was holding us down. Not the other way around.
    Great post. I would have thanked it had you not used the term goh for an ex tm coach who worked hard for us. We should be better than Cq groupies who keep throwing mayeligoan and brangoh around in a futile attempt to make up for his weak results.

    Yes indeed his system is nothing new and it was his only trick. In 8 years we had no plan or tactic if we were scored on first. His football was completely cowardice. Just making sure you dont get scored on and then whip the ball in there on throw ins, corners and free kicks in hopes of a bounce or an error. We need to rebuild our team as this team simply is not good enough. We need to look deep within and start rebuilding or midfield again. A midfield that historically boasted some of the best in Asia.

      Wow, there are so many different holes / flaws in your logic that I simply don't have enough time to sit here and respond point by point in detail!
      This is OK. Ultimately I'm not here to teach you anything or try to change your problematic opinions (which you are of course entitled to). Hopefully with time you will find enlightenment

        I read today CQ is taking Oceano Cruz, McDemrot etc with him as assistants, sadly Aghajanian is not in his Staff anymore

          I don't believe the Bosnia game and the Japan game are related. Against Bosnia lets face it, we had no bench. You can make an argument here and there but we didn't have any reasonable options to pick. We conceded a goal to Spain and for the remained of the game found ways to cut through the Spanish defense, Iran never gave up and we had players which we could sub in to give us an attacking element like Ghoddos, Karim etc. When it comes to the game against Japan, yeah I agree he made some mistakes. He should have attacked more. However, Iran completely collapsed after the Japan goal. You can't legislate for players complaining to the ref IN THE MIDDLE OF PLAY! Then you had the penalty call which agree with it or not was the end of that game for me. CQ has helped increased the fitness of the players, structure of the national team. When he came here only Nekounam and Masoud played in Europe now the majority of the team plays in Europe. This has to be the testament to his work. In many ways he brought a footballing revolution to bring Iran out of the dark. I feel without him we would have gone down like Saudi Arabia in 2014. But that is just my opinion on it.

                that is not true, if we can afford to send money to hezbollah , syria ,palastine and yemen, i am sure we can pay CQ salary and have good facility. is due to too much corruption, and since CQ cut all this dalals out, sport minister try to cut him out.

                      CQ will coach Colombia, will be fired after Copa America 2019, and return when TM will be in bad shape some years later

                        He is taking over a very promising team with lots of offensive weapons, so coaching some offensive stars with defensive system will not be easy, not all willing to buy this. I hope i am wrong and i wish him the best but i don't see he lasts long there.

                          They're gonna spit him out pretty fast. Colombia parking up a bus is not gonna go well with Colombians.

                              what makes you guys think he will have a defensive team?!? I think he is able to adjust to the needs of each team. The reason he was defensive with TM is because what he did not have the necessary tools to play offensive. Offensive is not just having a good strikers in azmun or taremi
                              IRI = FAILED

                                He is a defensive coach by nature, implemented that pretty much everywhere he coached, of course he will not be as defensive as TM in Colombia, but i am sure we won't see attacking football. This is the mentality of most of Portuguese coaches, defend first then think about scoring.
