The only real surprise is Kawashima who played well in the World Cup but he is 35 so they are probably trying out a new long-term goalie for the future. He would be almost 40 by the next World Cup so it's a good time to try out a replacement in case he retires before then (even though goalies do sometimes play that long but it's better to have another option ready just in case and it's a good time to test that).
