Masoud is great and brings a lot to the team when he plays with his magic passes and experience just as we saw in the last game he played. Hope he gets some play time at the Asia Cup.

As much as I agree that Shojaie has seen his better days in TM , however I believe he could be
A Useful sub to come in around the 60 th min in a case of an offensive deadlock.

If Gholizadeh makes a miraculous return, Massoud would certainly be the most sensible dropee to make room ..! Regardless of being captain & all that ..!
If I were CQ I’d just add him to asst. coaching staff

Masoud, Ashkan and Montazeri, all three played a total of 90 minutes combined in three WC matches, yet 6 months later they all made the AC squad, i don't get this!!!

apart from the fact that those players are actually good enough for team melli, the 3 players you mentioned specially masoud and ashkan are the glue of TM. They are the ones that keep tm players together. I was watching the interview of our players in navad and its seems that masoud plays a big rule in giving motivation and controlling our team. from beiro to mohammadi, all of them give masoud lots of respect and listen to him.

Remember what happened in 2000 asian cup ?We don't want the same scenario to happen

the fact that masoud gets playing time over ghoddos is criminal

dejagah is still good, he can deliever for the last 20 min, but masoud i am not sure, if gholizadeh recover he should take masoud spot, but cq love masoud.he wont cut him, he see masoud as team leader and motivator

That's exactly when you don't want him near TM at all! How do you want a slow, dribble crazy player who loses the ball way too often to the opponents in such a case?! If you need to waste time to keep a lead, then I'd agree with you but even then we have better, more in form players nowadays. Sorry to say but Masoud's time in TM is over. So is Dejagah's.

The sooner people realize it, the better for TM!

^ You have a point, but he still can create openings with a quick move or slick pass and besides Dejagah and maybe Ghoddos, we lack such players. So I think he could be an option for a deadlock situation too.

Yes, I agree with you about his slick passes but I think Masoud's drawbacks nowadays overshadows his benefits tbh. IMO, his net contribution in the filed is negative. Dejagah however is extremely inconsistent. At times, he may have a period of a good game. but I would also swap an unreliable Dejagah with a reliable young player any day.

One thing you guys do not understand is that this is the Asian Cup, not the World Cup. The pace of the game in most games, save for possible matchups with Japan and SK, will be significantly lower, which means that all the strengths of technically skilled, but slow players like Shojaei and - to some extent - Dejagah will be enhanced.

If Gholizadeh makes it I think Ghafouri gets the cut. We already have Ramin for RB with Pejman as back-up, and Kanaani as emergency (he's played there before for Iran youth teams). It makes the most sense given our shortage of midfielders and wingers/forwards.
