IMO Hajsafi is garbage when he plays as LB.

If he plays, he needs to play as a CDM.

I prefer Milad over Ehsan on the left.

Apart from that, Torabi clearly MOM.

Ghoddoos is a BEAST, pure quality when he came on, very fast and skilled movement, Taremi is underrated AF when it comes to workrate and drawing fouls.

Dame hame bacheha garm, it was very pleasing to watch.

Hosseini and especially Amiri were a little too hyped, but better than not to be hyped at all

      Positives:

Taremi - We have a gem of a player here. Really don’t understand all the criticism for him for missing opportunities when his clever runs, physical presence and unorthodox style are time and again the source of our best opportunities. He even wins the ball high and pressures the opposition and links better with Azmoun than any other forward players we have - we would be a far less effective or dangerous team without him. Consistently outperforms supposed top stars like Jahanbaksh and Ansarifard.

Torabi - Another rare gem. Classy player, still reminds me of De Bruyne the way he can link play and carries the ball past players.

Rezaian’s switching of play - underrated facet of him (and our play in general) is the ability to switch play. Going to be key in this tournament, particularly against teams that defend in numbers.

On the ball the midfield selection offered a lot of options to recycle possession and build play from either side. Dejagah dropping deep on the right, Torabi given license to roam and Taremi creating a lot of problems linking on the left.

      Things to improve:

Hajsafi at lb - for all his amazing work, CQ still stubbornly sticks to some failed strategies and bizarre decisions - this is one of them. Even fails at the basic aspects of defending in terms of body shape when he’s playing there. The decision to continue with him at lb is even more bizarre given that in the build up to the WC I thought Hajsafi was having his most effective spell at centre mid (and how poorly he performed defensively in that tournament). The only positive I can think of playing him there is his passing, but for me he doesn’t switch play as effectively as Rezaeian from the right. If he's still there playing there in the knock out stages the oppo will exploit him a la Portugal with Quaresma.

The gap between back line and Ebrahimi far too big especially in the first half - there were a lot of gaps for the attacking midfield players to exploit. He was also getting involved further up the pitch too many times leaving us exposed to the oppo breaking on the transition against weaker defensive players like Dejagah. We need a designated holder to be more positionally in the games against better opposition. The biggest shame injury wise is definitely Ezzatolahi for me.

The high press - didn’t work well in this game for me, was never really co-ordinated as a team and it’s no surprise that Amiri seemed to have a poor game as a result.

Temperament - Hosseini, Rezaeian & Dejagah - all committed wreckless and stupid challenges. It’s like we haven’t learned our lesson from previous campaigns - just don’t give the referee any excuse, particularly in this tournament - if we don’t address this other teams will exploit this temperament issue again.

Best part about Ghoddos goal - it was rehearsed and perfectly executed. PAG with a beautiful pass from the header.

Not sure about numerical ratings...but some observations (I only got to watch the second half)
          ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          - First of all, I've been guilty of moaning about it, but what an amazing and refreshing feeling to see us go knee deep attacking even after game is done and dusted. The lads looked really hungry and motivated out there
          - I loved the aggression in our play, no hissing around or taking things for granted. The attitude seemed spot on
          - Great for morale that all our top 3 goal scorers broke their duck and have their confidence up now
          - Good subs by Queiroz to protect our players both for rest and risk of suspension
          - With that win, we sort of guaranteed that we won't be lacking in GD if that Iraq game ended up being decided for who tops the group (unlike the situation with UAE in the last Asian Cup).
          - We'll be playing a game ever 4-5 days and a lot of our players aren't used to it. It's imperative that we use the squad wisely, so we'll be fresh for the later elimination rounds. This win really allows us some breathing space

WTF was wrong with Yemeni players by the way? It looked as they had a trip to the Alps snowboarding Colombian style before the match. So much aggression and dangerous tackles. Could have had 2-3 players sent off! Lucky for us to end the match with no injuries.

Guys, why such low rating for PAG and Hosseini? I thought they both played amazing. Montazeri was probably brought on to give him some mins!

Beiranvand- 7 - he was untested

Ehsan Hajsafi- 5.5 - he's overrated and mistake prone. Yes, he has some offensive capability but he doesn't defend.

Majid Hosseini- 6 - aggression is good, but he's far too reckless.

Pouraliganji- 7 - did all that was expected.

Rezaeian- 7 - did all that was expected. Could be quicker.

Omid Ebrahimi- 7 - did all that was expected.

Dejagah- 9 - nice work to control the pace of play and midfield. His skill level is highest on TM when he's injury free

Vahid Amiri- 6.5 - too many mistakes.

Taremi- 9 - Gets in position and creates many chances. His physical play is the best in TM. Valuable to any team and CQ loves him understandably.

Torabi- 7.5 - his touch is too heavy, yeah he had some nice shots, but its not enough considering the opponent.

Azmoun- 8 - hustled and got many opportunities. Unlucky to not score more.

                  Substitutes

Montazeri- 7 - good replacement for Majid. Calmed everything down.

                  Ansarifard- N/A

Ghoddos- 7.5 - great goal but slow and mistake prone. He'll get better but he's not 100%

Overall it was a good game, but our opponent made us look much better.
                  Still too many mistakes.
Don't expect us to play this open anymore in the tournament. Each game will get progressively harder.

Also I genuinely felt bad for the Yemeni player on the bench who was crying.

His tactics of starting Dejagah and then later bringing on Ghoddos worked, credit where it’s due! He really thought out and planned for this match!!!

Dejagha will be far more useful in AC than WC...

His skill level is above Asian level and he is highly motivated. Hope he is injury free and brings us the cup !!
