    Correct.

Being first is 80 to 90%, might be against Lebanon or Turkman, hard to tell now after two games.

Beiranvand - 7 - did well on the few times he was challenged

Ghafouri - 6 - Great in the first half, terrible in the 2nd half. His positioning defensively is really bad.

PAG - 6 - His worst game in a while, wasn't even that strong in the air. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

Kanani - 7 - covered well, but he was in a higher gear than he needed to be. I don't think he can play like this against better teams.

Hajisafi - 4 - worst player on the pitch. I don't care that he's out of position. He's horrible in defense and mouthy too.

Dejagah - 7.5 - he was amazing in the first half, defensively and offensively. Dropped off dramatically in the 2nd half.

Omid - 6.5 - good defense, bad offense.

Amiri - 6 - good defense, bad offense.

Taremi - 6.5 - got into good positions, but was off focus today.

Ghoddos - 7.5 - played well and consistent. Needs to be more confident on his runs.

Sardar - 8 - his 2nd goal was amazing. With every replay it got better. Got into position well, but can play even better than this. Needs to focus more.

      Bench:
      Torabi - 6 - good
      Nourollahi - 5.5 nervous
      Karim - N/A

We are going to have a much more defensive lineup in future games.
As mentioned eaerlier, we got too lazy and complacent in the 2nd half. We have been dominant, but better teams only need one chance to beat us.
Our first half was some of the best movement I've seen from TM in years.

Shout out to Vietnam, they played hard and did their best. In 5 years they can be better, the just need some more attacking power and bigger players.

to be honest, in the last 2 games iran didnt play at its best. we won easy because our oponnents were awful. if we also win this easy against teams like uzbekistan and qatar then i could say we improved.
And can queiroz please stop choosing hajsafi over mohammadi.... also i think majidi deserves more credits.

Haji is a liability defensively but CQ likes playing him.
I have a feeling we get to see Milad & Ramin combo vs Iraq.

FINALLY Saman started! What an amazing display by him and Ashkan. The first half was a joy to watch. I don't recall ever watching TM play like that in my lifetime.

                - Moving Hajsafi to the midfield would mean benching one of either Ashkan or Amiri.

                - It was smart to bench Ramin dur to his yellow card last game. Voriya stepped up finely and did a great job on the first goal with that pass to Saman.

                - Sardar and Taremi are meshing very well together. They need a bit more time to rip open defenses with quick passes.

                - I'm not worried at all for our defense. The WC proved that we can defend well. I'm more concerned about scoring on our chances in the knockout stage.

                - Without Ashkan and Saman, we would have nothing in this campaign

I don't consider todays team as "A team." Especially the back four. I think as we progress in the tourny, you will see a more solid, "regular starter" team. CQ learns from mistakes. He is still in his "experimental phase." Ghoddos got his first 90, ARJ being rested, Milad being rested. Ashkan being the beast that he is is at best a 60 minute player these days. I think all these factors are being considered. The difference between this team melli and ones in the past is that after scoring, they don't sit back and park the bus, they go for more. There is a lot more exciting football to be seen by this team.
Then again, I could be talking str8 out of my ass and proven wrong in the next 2 games.

I hope what this has proven for CQ is that Ghoddos is now fully blooded as a TM player, I really think it would be a waste for him to get WC2018 minutes later on in the competition.

                          1. The only field players we have not seen yet are mimo, cheshmi and shojaei. We might see them next game. Even though cheshmi causes headaches, I prefer him playing against Iraq instead if Omid as Omid will need some rest once. Better now than in the knockout stage.

                          2. Mimo did not loose his spot to hajsafi but to amiri. Bringing amiri in CM forced CQ to find another spot for hajsafi. For some reason he rates his experience higher tham mimos strenghts.

                          3. Saman desperately needs players on his IQ level. Today Taremi and Torabi both did not pass him as necedsary although he was in perfect position. Only Ashkan, Masoud and Jahanbaksh have that ability.

                          4. Again obvious why CQ did not take Ghafouri to WC. Great passing, but against strong teams his def. positioning is deadly.

5 . Important that CQ keeps switching players. Our best WC players luke amiri, omid and the CBs are not shining in the offensive style of play we have now. We need to adjust the line-up over and over again in every game.

The main reason defense is not looking that strong is 1) We play with one DM compare to usual 2 under CQ 2) Absence of Ezzatollahi.
and that is my concern going forward, both Ebrahimi and Ashkan are 30 or plus, and they can not keep it up for long time in such a tournament when you play every 4-5 days. Today one of the reason why we didn't look that fresh was we had 4 players 30 or plus in our line up(Amiri, Ashkan, Vouria, Ebrahimi).
My feeling is moving to the elimination round or maybe even from Iraq match, we may see Cheshmi next to Ebrahimi, and i hope it is Hajsafi instead, for two reasons:
                            1) This will let Milad to play as LB
                            2) and Hajsafi is much better DM or LW than LB
I think we may see this line-up more or less when the elimination round start:
                            Beiro
                            Ramin-PAG-Kanani-Hajsafi
                            Ebrahimi-Cheshmi
                            Ghoddos-Ashkan-Taremi
                            Sardar
                            Or what i personally prefer:
                            Beiro
                            Ramin-PAG-Kanani-Milad
                            Ebrahimi-Hajsafi
                            Ghoddos-Dejagah-Taremi
                            Azmoun
I wasn't much impressed with Amiri so far.
Hope the injury of Saeid and Ali Gholi doesn't hunt us!

                              Iran vs Vietnam Ratings

Beiranvand - 8 - Just a solid game. Not tested much but when he was he was perfect. Almost had an assist on a monster throw.

Ghafouri - 7 - His play directly led to the first goal. I thought he overlapped well and didn't see any defensive mistakes. Disappeared a bit in the second half.

PAG - 6 - PAG's play really depends on his trust with the other CB. I just dont think he trusted Kanani.

Kanani - 6 - Not a terrible game, but really didn't inspire any trust from PAG. Looked unsure of himself and was out of position a few times.

Hajisafi - 6 - I still don't know why he starts. He is a liability on defense and is only average on the attack. He does hustle but that's only because his first touch tends to let him down... a lot.

                              Dejagah - 7.5 - He was a 9 in the first half and a 6 in the second. I don't think he's a 90 min player, but when he's fresh, he's magic. A General on the pitch.

Omid - 7 - Zero mistakes from Omid. I think he''s a very smart player that is key to our counter pressure.

Amiri - 6 - Worked hard but looks like he's not fit or is out of sync with the players around him. Still was an okay game.

Taremi - 6 - Taremi still has the best positioning and use of space of any of our attacking players. But he still doesn't know when to make that final pass in the box. Also finishing wasn't there today as he had a couple opportunities to score.

Ghoddos - 8.5 - Fantastic game. Pace, touch and awareness were all there for Ghoddos. Our most dynamic player.

Sardar - 9 (MOTM) - Clinical finishing today. Killer instinct was there. Always amazed how cool he is in the box. Will be top scorer, book it.

                              Bench:
Torabi - 7.5 - Torabi is magic. Should start. He's one of our direct and dynamic players. Can unlock any team in this tournament.

Nourollahi - 4 - Just not ready for big show. Out of position, panics, and had some very suspect touches. Almost cost us a goal late.

Karim - NA - Didn't have much time but didn't really add to the attack either.
