North Korea getting into the 2010 world cup (two spaces ahead of us in the group table) and us not getting to it needs to be given a thorough forensic analysis.

How did that happen? Losing at home to 8-0s, drawing with UAE, South Korea and North Korea etc.... Teams with Mahdavikia, Bagheri, Seyed Jalal, Hashemian, peak Shojaei and Nekounam, Rahmati....

I know it was the end outcome of a few years lack of long-term thought in our TM but it still hurts, and it was only just over 8 years ago.... Wow seems like a different world.

Their manager was very suspicious of his own players performance in the previous game, here we go again?

That's the best possible outcome for them...

It was because of Ali Daei and his inconsistent lineups.

Ali Daei was a great player and as head coach he brought a few names to our Team Melli football who we know today, like Ehsan Hajsafi, Mohammadreza Khalatbari, or Ahmad Alenemeh..

But his coaching ultimately hurt us in the end. We couldn’t keep any leads and Rutemöller said this too after he left.

Every time we were leading we conceded. Against South Korea we were leading 1-0 then Park Ji Song scored 1-1 in both home/away matches. Same with Saudi Arabia match and even the North Korea when we beat them 2-1. We were up 2-0 and there was no reason to concede that goal.

I would suggest that as well as Ali Daei's coaching, his predecessors did not sow the seeds for success in terms of infrastructure, the atmosphere around TM, and meritocracy in terms of players cemented in positions, amongst many many other things.

We can see in our volleyball how having a good coach who thinks about long-terms and many other things behind the scenes to professionalise things, provides dividends for future coaches.

Give them credit, North Korea were a decent side back then and even in the last Asian Cup. I haven't watched them for a couple of years so not sure why they're now crumbling.

We should hope for a Oman - Japan tie, if Iran finish first in our group and Japan 2nd in their group, then they end up on the other side of the bracket and Uzbekistan will end up on our side of the bracket.

I don't think Japan should have had that penalty, incredibly cheap goal.

The positive is that Japan would eliminate one of Saudi or Qatar before we face them so they are doing our dirty work for us!

It seems like someone has died in the stadium.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.
