Tractor welcome George Leekens as new head coach

George Leekens has just signed as head coach of Tractor Sazi. He is one of the highest profile coach to ever work in the PGL. His career has been hit and miss. For the most part though it seems as though he has succeeded in club football.

His biggest achievements are winning the Belgian league in 1990 w/ Club Brugge, the Belgian Cup in 1991 w/ Club Brugge, & the Belgian cup in 1985 w/ Cercle Brugge.

Let's hope he succeeds and we can see more high profile coaches like Leekens, Schaffer, Branko in our league.

    National team managed:
    Belgium (two stints)
    Algeria (two stints)
    Tunisia
    Hungary
    Club teams managed:
    Club Brugge (two stints)
    Cercle Brugge (two stints)
    Anderlecht
    Kortrijk two stints
    Trabzonspor
    Charleroi
    Excelsior Mouscron (two stints)
    Lokeren (three stints)
    Roda

    Al Hilal (Saudi)

By that logic Carlos Quiroz should retire after the Asian Cup

He’ll be gone soon with a nice paycheque. Another toshack.

Toshack was a well respected manager, especially by Westerners. Interesting enough, he was featured in a football magazine I was reading a few days ago, praising him and talking about his achievements.

My question is, why did he flop in Iran?

Cause he was washed up and never kept up with modern football. He thought it would be a UAE semi retirement type job.

I applaud Tractor willingness to hire high profile foreigners : Toshack, Leeskens, Constant, Stokes. I hope they will keep Leeskens during a signicant amount of time even if it doesn't work at once

The guy put Luca Bonacic to shame. Changed club almost every year!

Spot on! Lol Georges Leekens has been known for doing this over the years. I seriously doubt that he'll last there for more than a season.

I also know from a close friend that Tractor was trying to sign another coach who was coaching in the jupiler league last season but the coach was asking for too much money and wasn't very keen to go to Iran. It was before the beginning of the season.

About Georges Leekens, I think that his methods are overdated, however, he can't be worse than some coaches in the PGL.

I just don't think having a coach who stays at clubs for 1 year tops is good for development and making an infrastructure for the future

Luka Bonacic has had 33 (THIRTY THREE) separate managerial jobs since when he first started .That is ridiculous.

Leekens has had 26 which isn't much better
