Good for Thailand. It will be nice to see both India and Thailand make it to the next round. It's about time to have some non-traditional teams take center stage as well.

Thai CB just missed a sitter in front of goal from the corner. This is a very weak UAE team; even if they were on our bracket side we could dispose of them no problem.

Thailand were actually pretty strong back when we were dominant. I think they were third place in the 70s. Their football has been improving quite a lot in recent years too, U-23 team also looks good.

Historically UAE has never done too well against us due to the style of their play. i much rather play UAE than a team like Oman, Syria,...etc. We do not do well against Arab teams that play dirty and defensive.

You are correct. In fact In all our meetings they have only scored 1 goal on us in 2008 which resulted in us missing the world cup in 2010.

I think we are stronger than Japan, though they are the team I fear the most. I've never felt an Iran team to be this well balanced and disciplined and I think this may be the last time we see TM this strong.

Not making any assumptions though, as I still can't see how Saudi and UAE would let Iran win this tournament.

Regarding Japan, they are in a transition phase as the new coach has replaced the stalwarts of the last few years like Kagawa and Okazaki, yet the rest of their squad is experienced. As this is their swansong, I expect they will be very strong as in these instances teams always find an extra level to compete at.
