I just think final will be easier than semifinal and this Round of 16 match, less pressure in the final because that's already a good achievement. I'm less afraid of Korea or Australia or Qatar than Oman. not because Oman is better than those teams just because they have nothing to lose tomorrow and the first knockout match is always hard specially against a tricky team like Oman.

But I must admit I like how he is using Shojaei in different ways:
        - As an interface between his staff and the players in training and on the sidelines
        - As a calm and intelligent spokesperson for the team, an "experienced head"
I think his psychological impact to the camp is something we can't quite appreciate
Strangemoosh jan, welcome to whatever works for TM club, that's what some of us have been trying to say.

So many naneh ghamars cooking bad ash reshtehs for them that u need spiritual troopers like master Shojaie and others to keep it light and pure.. like the perfect detox broth.
He is actually doing all of us a favour.
Keep calm and believe in Fairies and Footballers Roxanaz

If I understand correctly, this is the first time Asian Cup is having a Round of 16 KO stage (previously would go to QF after the group stages). In essence this is like another group game for us (with the likes of facing Oman). Yes, Oman is a good team and put up a good performance in their group, but they're still a 3rd place finisher with only 1 win. I try and think of this as another group game to warm us up for the quarter finals. We'll get past this, and face either China/Thailand.

A win is a win is a win even if it's 1-0. So I don't care as long as we win and move on to the next round.

I think Shojaei will start this game instead of Dejagah. I have nor watched any of Oman's game but I don't think Masoud's slowness will be a detriment in this game. I kind of like how he can make his pin point passes.
Torabi will also be nice to have in this game.
                My guess

We have traditionally struggled against Oman. They're perhaps the most stubborn and nerve-racking of Persian Gulf footballing nations when it comes to playing TM. Not sure why so many of you folks think it's going to be a walk in the park for us. I predict a narrow win for us, but again anything is possible in football, especially in the knockout stages.

Please please do not underestimate the Omanis, they're a good team, given their key player who got injured in their first game will be fit for tomorrow's game, I am speculating an ugly and close game. Truly hope I am wrong, and we will thrash them at ease.

Got a feeling this game will be closer then most think might even go into extra time. Most of the time we tend to play midocure against Arab sides.

Because they all know how to get under ort thin skin. Our players play overly emotional and temperamental against these teams, and this region's countries perfectly know how to infuriate our players, causing them receive cards or possibly ejections.

However in all fairness Oman has often been one of the cleanest Arab teams that we have played in the past. Barely seen them pulling agitating tricks like that of Emirates, Qataris, Iraqis or Saudis. I honestly cannot remember taunting our players with annoying behavior, even if they beat us or held us to an unfavorable draw!

It's not really "playing" when one side tends to roll around on the grass for 80 minutes. Expect a lot of that tomorrow. Oman will do everything they can to extend the game into penalties.

i havent seen them play lately but in the past they played the most modern, good football than any other ayrab team we typically play on the regular basis..!!

Before i judge about possible Lineup-Strategies, lets consider these points:
                                - We rested one day more than Oman.
                                - As CQ said it, he achieved his goal by Rotating the players and involve every single player into our success, which has def. positive impact on Team-Chemistry, as everyone
feels part of this campaign and get a feeling for the atmosphere. So our "main players'' not just rested one day longer than the Oman Team, yet they had
also mostly rest in the last game and the last 20 min of our game against Vietnam.
From this perspective we should have the edge for this game. ( I am not going to comment and count our internal-problems.)
Oman is a very tricky opponent, many times we struggled against them. My
                                Lineup for this game:
                                ------Beiro------------
                                --M.Hosseini---PAG----
                                Rezaian-----------MiMo
                                ---Ebrahimi--Haysafi
                                Dejagah--Taremi-Torabi
                                ------Azmoun----------
I hope that we can capitalize on Corners, Throw-Ins and Crosses into the box,
since we have a taller Team and the air-advantage. The only player that can take decent Free-kicks
and Corners is Dejagah! AJB and Ghoddus suck in this Term, so that we loose a strong tool
to score if one of these take the Corners.
I think Haysafi, Dejagah should def. start this game since they are more mature and can help
us with their Experience. We havent been able to win a Game in the Knockout-stage, since 2006! Sunday we have
the opportunity to break this negative Record, therefore we have to be mentally prepared.
Dejagah is our best Player, he should start this game, he gives us much more
pace, creativity and power in the midfield.
Ebrahimi and Haysafi should close-up the midfield and secure us the control of the game with their
                                physicality.
Rezaian is more fluid, creative and offensive-minded than Vouria. I have the feeling that Rezaian can take
better crosses and breakdown the right side. MiMo is our Jordi Alba, speedy, sharp, good crosses, nice tackling,
                                good positioning.
Taremi, Torabi and Azmoun are deadly together. I prefer Torabi over Amiri (he can be key as a sub. player.)
good post....! agreed to most everything except I'd guess Samaan to still be our best FK taker, although he struggled a bit on that front vs Iraq..!
