That doesn't necessarily mean a fair result. Look at how VAR treated TM during the WC (also by European VAR refs). CQ had a very nice argument against VAR in its current form:

Refereeing is not an easy job. Let us do not badmouth referees, someone such as Ben Williams will go against us.

Iran should focus on the game rather than referees. I hate it when players argue with a referee. This should not happen and if there is a problem, only captain should talk.

In life, shit happens. Over the long term competence and hard work will stand out.

im ok with a qatari ref as they're supposed to be allies with IFF and enemies of saudi and uae

surprisingly the mexican ref was good. cq should have criticized him that way the AFC would have appointed him in the later rounds #cqmindgaems

All im saying is we get the one from qatar who has a team in competition . a ref from uzbekistan or australia or even south korea would've been fine.

I'm just sick of racist comments here. that's funny because I also used to have the same feeling toward Arab teams or Arab referees. but when you grow older you really realize these are just nonsense. mistakes happen and we usually remember only those against us. did we ever talked about how we qualified to 1998 World Cup by an offside goal ? (Bagheri's goal) or how that Delawar guy Bahraini referee didn't sent 3 of our players off in that notorious Oman match. that could eliminate us from the 2004 Cup before getting robbed by Talaat Najm in semifinal.

to me this is unbelievable to talk about referee before the match ! I know AFC is corrupt but it's still hard to believe for me to fix matches like this. I'm sure this Qatari guy will try his best. I had seen him before. at least so far he is a decent referee (in Asian standards though)

and btw they usually send refs home after the quarterfinal if your country reaches the semis. and the South Korean referee here is terrible. I'm glad he is not appointed for our match.

Ben Williams wanted to get CQ back after he spoke about him, also he made geniune childish mistakes. But im talking about history. If you are old enough you should know better, all the arab referees that we had made huge "MISTAKES" against us! I still haven't forgotten iran vs china game 2004 . Lets hope this one is fair.

Also this cup 2019 has been full of corupted referees . Oman vs Japan was the biggest one.

Ive watched probably 70% of the games so far in this tournament and the refs have been a Grade C+ at best. Some horrible decisions which really make you think about the professionalism. The Iraq vs Qatar game last night, that Ref should be sent back to Singapore and not be at this level again.

This ref is decent.

I think we need to relax with the conspiracies.

The big money in this tournament have been eliminated (Saudi, Bahrain, etc)

And UAE was nearly eliminated by kyrghz.

I think the refs have been poor but besides one game ( I think the ref Oman had one game) the rest have been average.
