2- I'd have liked Azmoun to be taken out much much earlier, given his discomfort in 1st half. And the fact that with taromi out, we need a very fresh legged Azmoun

3- Omid & Dejagah were simply fantastic. controlling the middle and forming a shield in front of the CBs.

4- I feel (hope?) TM took its foot off the gas in 2nd half to preserve energy. Really hope this was the plan. Coz japan is a totally different beast

As soon as cheshmi comes in it means that we are saving our legs.

Good that Dej is getting pulled out when we are ahead, we need his legs.

We had a very well executed game plan and I think the entire team was good, however azmoun was absolutely outstanding. His pressing made both of those goals,

Yes, the defenders made mistakes BUT azmouns pressure was a big part of them making those mistakes, his effort was 150% today. He played an intelligent and sharp game.

we did well overall, taremi was poor in finishing, that miss was the miss of the tournement. however we only got 1 yellow and the rest will play.so its good for us, and we rested against china also.

By far Azmoun was our best today. He gave it all. I saw it on his face. He carried Iran and had a big hand in many chances created and our first two goals with a goal and an assist.

Both of Sardar's steals reminded me of this goal from almost exactly 10 years ago:

Their fitness is very good but their players are made for finesse and technique. We should absolutely physically dominate them in the midfield with their shorter midfielders.

We must remember that we are underdogs though.

I think putting Amiri in against Japan would be perfect. We need more physicality and defense and in that game since I expect Japan to have more possession

Agreed with they physicality part. This will be crucial for us. We have to overpower our opponents.

However, Japan is learning how to play non-possession football. They are completely changing their style after what happened in WC 2018.

You should hear the BEIN sports commentator. He says Iran is playing "like a champions league team" !!!! They praise us so much and Ahmed Dakhil the famous commentator was saying that the Star of the Iranian team is the "whole team"!! They also mention the fact that CQ has been with us for so long he truly know s the team and his caliber is seen in every game Iran plays. All in all. They dont see us as UNDER DOGS. Rather as the ALPHA WOLF of the tournament.

I do not like to rate players since football is a teamwork.

Happy Iran won 3 - 0 against China and Karim scored. Good for his confidence.

Iran is a top football team in Asia. Several mistakes and acting lays by Chinese and Iraqis caused us not to be in the final four. Now we are. Iran needs to be careful and play its game. Iran is a strong Asian team.

But we are DEFINITELY the underdogs.

Japan's tallest midfielder is 5'10. They are all small and I think the midfield will be key to winning this game. Need to press and use the physicality to our advantage. A fresh Amiri will be the key to this.

This was a clash between a good Asian team and a world class Iran. As noted by Fox Commentator, Iran is really impressive without the ball - and when they had the ball every player had several options. They should study and teach this games in Asia from a tactical perspective.
