I, like everyone else, am absolutely ecstatic & delighted at our performance and result. Dameh team melli garm!
I don't wanna infuse negativity, but not having Taremi the next game may be a blessing in disguise. I have nothing against the guy personally (he's hard-working, polite, and humble), but the sheer AMOUNT of bad misses have really stacked up against him (World Cup games, friendlies, now Asian Cup).
I think most of us are looking past this because of all the comfortable victories we've had so far, but against good teams and beyond, where our chances will be less, this will REALLY hurt us.
I can't help but feel that Ghoddos or Torabi would be better at his position in finishing.

It was an overall acceptable performance against a much weaker opposition. Not so happy about the fact that all the goals for the most part anyways came from individual hustle rather than collective team work and fluid penetration. However, our passing game has improved slightly. You can see that, specifically in the first half most of the passes were forward and our boys were getting into pockets, and forming triangles and moving past the clueless chinese defense.
Hajsafi finally played in position. Ashkan didn't have a great day, had quite a few turnovers. I'd rest him against Japan and play Shojaei instead. Taremi was Taremi. Great at getting into right position and converted 15% of his chances, i.e. 1 goal. Missed a sitter, went down too easily for a PK that was correctly not awarded. Karim shouldn't replace him though. I'd put Ghoddos in instead to get a better grip on the mid-field and JB can push little bit more forward and act more like a #9. He's a better poacher than Karim anyways. Good finish by Karim btw.
For the 2nd game in a row we saw a total mental collapse and disregard for the game from our boys in the first 5 minutes of the match. Gave a penalty to Oman and almost got scored on by China. If this issue isn't addressed we will pay for it against a competent opposition and from now on we'll only be facing competent opposition.
Sardar was absolutely sensational. But he stayed on the pitch for 20 mins too long. Giving your 100% energy is great for 60-70mins. But 4 days isn't enough time to recover from 85minutes of 100% hustle. ARJ is on form, physically he's in the best shape I've seen him. Ever. But he's playing with a chip on his shoulder, and he's out there to prove something. Which is exactly why he needs a talking to. He's wasting too many opportunities selfishly. He's playing great. Just needs to calm down and play for the team instead of his own status.
Ebrahimi was Ebrahimi. It ain't pretty, it ain't flashy but gets the job done. Low risk, and consistent. Still miss Ezatollahi though. This would have been his tournament.
Milmo was quite solid. And I like Pouraliganji and Kanani duo. Hosseini can continue to warm the bench and think about his dumb and unnecessary double footed tackle that would have been a straight red any other day in his career.
Rezaian also had a great performance despite the fact that we were mostly attacking from the left flank.
Overall, I'm happy with the result. But there's so much work that needs to be

lol I love the critiques
Hey we won 3-0 against China in quarterfinals. But you know...they are a weak team (*cough* there was a point not long ago we thought we would lose to them at WC qualifiers *cough*), China wasn't their 100% today, the goals just weren't tiki-taka it was because of mistakes...etc...etc...
seriously?EAT. SLEEP. TM. REPEAT.

This was easily the most dominate TM performance I have ever watched. Games vs Yemen and Sierra Leone obviously don't count. But although China isn't a powerhouse they are still relatively not a push over.
From the get go we were pressing and it wasn't just kick the ball and hope for the best. Our TM was actually connecting on passes and there was some fluidity to our attacks. I was impressed and had so much fun watching this game. Some things I noticed:
Ramin- what a warrior this guy is. I don't care about the pink boots, his obnoxious hair styles, or duck face selfies. When it comes to performing for TM his is an absolute beast. He came up huge breaking up an attack that could have resulted in a goal. I love the fact that he doesn't back down from anybody, including the ref
Kaanani- wow this guy is a stud. He is hungry to score goals, but even more hungry to not let any go in against us. Him and PAG together are a rock.
Hajsafi- with Amiri out due to suspension, CQ was forced to put Hajsafi in his natural position and it showed. Great performance by Ehsan and as a result MiMo got solid playing time and was able to showcase his skills. Hopefully CQ will keep Ehsan in midfield and MiMo at LB. God forbid any of these guys gets injured, but we know Ehsan can play LB, while we have many other midfield options.
Dejagah- this guy is a general on the field. I remember questioning this guys heart when he missed half a season in order to open up a hookah bar. Little did we all know he was injured all this time. Im glad to finally se him in form and it only makes me wonder how different our WC campaign would have been had Ashkan been fit, as Karim could not fill in the void. However, it was good to see Karim score on his only chance of the game. He is notorious for his lack of finishing. Hopefully he's found his scoring touch and we should be able to count of him if Azmoun gets subbed out.
Taremi- man I love his hustle, but his lack of finishing kills me. He scores goals, but after all the chances he gets one in bound to go in. It sucks that he got a second yellow, I think it was unfair as he was trying to avoid collision, but it is what it is. Hopefully Torabi or Ghoddos can step up to the occasion and come up clutch for us vs Japan.
Azmoun- I remember after he retired during TMs post WC 3 month break due to him being upset at fans for upsetting his mom, I thought is this guy serious? I literally took him as a joke, thats not the warrior mentality. Im glad he has disabled comments on IG as he's been able to focus on being a football player. I don't know what got into him today, but he was his old self. He was hustling and fighting for every ball. For sure our MOM. This is the Azmoun we all know and if he's really in full form then I wouldn't be surprised if he puts up a brace vs Japan
CQ- Definately has a chip on his shoulder after having to deal with IFFs incompetence and school girl drama with Karimi, Khiabani, Branko and co. but these idiots think that CQ is as weak as they are. They're so stupid that by criticizing CQ they are actually adding more fuel to the fire. Keep it up guys, we appreciate it. I think he has a few more tricks up his sleeve. He's been playing guys in unnatural positions and using different lineup combos that its been hard to figure out just what in the hell he is thinking. I feel that in the semi finals or god willing in the finals he will start a dangerous line up that will attack like beasts and defend like warrior. I still feel that AJB-Dejagah-Ghoddos with Azmoun upfront is our offensive recipe to win the championship, but we will see. CQ has created a monster thats been 8 years in the making and I think that the beast has finally woke up.
Ive never seen TM put up goals like they have vs China. Usually its 1-0 and hang on for dear life. Todays game was a clinic. Im feeling really good about this Japan clash as they have not been convincing this tournament and have won a few games thanks to the refs gifting them a few PKs. Not trying to get a head of myself or get over confident, but the form TM is in right now I don't see any team stopping us. We're dominating so much that not even a refs or VAR decision can break us. Cannot wait for Mondays game. GO TM!!SHOW TIME!
