Copa America 2019 - 2 Asian Teams

Apparantly they were going to invite three teams but they changed their mind and it was changed to 2 teams from asia. Qatar and Japan both have been invited to play there ! I have a feeling japan is taking AFC 2019 as preparation for that tournament ! What do you guys think ?

Good exposure of Asian football to Copa America, though everyone knows who the real challenger from Asia would/should have been in this tournament. To hold Argentina/Messi for 93 minutes, to stop Ronaldo, to nearly tie Spain, to be the highest ranked Asian team for 4 years, and to be on the precipice of winning the Asian Cup, there is only 1 clear challenger.

If truly about marketing, then the analysts should have seen how Iranians packed every group game with TM in WC Russia. Similarly, if it was truly about marketing, the US would invite TM for a friendly every year and pack the Rose Bowl with sell out crowds.

As far as TV rights, you've seen how desperate TM fans on this forum have been to find any paid subscription that would carry the Asian Cup in the US. I just signed up for a subscription at DAZN.com when it was revealed that they got the rights to the rest of the Asian Cup games.

This is also about politics, as we all know.

All Money they can f**ck them selfs its the same reason why Bundesliga Is Full of japanese and koreans im Not saying they are Not good players but the japanese Media and koreans pay alot to Cover them thats a good bonus to get those Players! Please boycott Copa America and Africa nations cup as it is inexcusable how european TV snubs asian football to mast***** themselves 6 months later on overrated south american and africa football (we saw how good there was in the last WC).

Although I'm pissed off that the two representatives are Japan (for like the 4th time they've been invited there) and Qatar, overall this is good.

With the new UEFA Nations League in Europe, the gap in competitive matches between Europe and the rest of the world will be even higher.

Having increased "exchange" with Americas so that 2-3 teams from asia (hopefully iran in the future) go for copa america, and vice versa, would be good for maintaining the level of asian football.

No Asia should NOT invite teams from south america.

But i would like if Asia and Africa combine their tournaments somehow...

two options:

1) parallel Asian and African Cup starting and than knockout round Asian teams vs. African teams in round of 16 or from Quarterfinal to play out the Asian-African champion

2) After the Asian and African Cup, another Cup will start (3, 6 or max. 12 months later) with the semifinalist of each cup (=total 8 teams) OR the quarterfinalist (= 16 teams) to play out in 2 groups (8 teams divided by 4 teams a group) or 4 groups (16 teams divided by 4 teams a group). Each group will have 2 teams from asia and africa, and then going on in knock-out stage...


I personally like my second idea with 16 teams, so reaching the quarterfinal would be a aim for all teams to "qualify" for the next tournament. The best 8 teams of the continent facing each other in another cup would improve asian and african football while Europe is playing its nations league, and is not really interested in a world nations league...

AFC : 5 spots (Iran, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia)
CAF : 5 spots (Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt, Tunisia)
CONCACAF : 5 spots (Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, US)
OFC : 1 spot (New Zealand)

To be fair against other teams they should hold a qualification process where Asian teams take part and the 2 best teams gets to play Copa America or to keep it simple let the two teams that reach the final in this years Asian Cup also take part in Copa America. What is this "invite" japan and Qatar. All teams have to deserve to be there. Such unfairness to other Asian teams
