Using Amiri as a winger shows a bit too much respect to Japan in my opinion, would have much rather seen him in central midfield and put Torabi or Ghoddos there

Japan's right side is their strongest side, with vetran Sakai as RB and the new kid Doan as the winger in front of him. this is exactly what I thought Carlos would do having Amiri AND Hajsafi on our left side and Milad to cover with his speed.

I think this is the battle where this game is won or lost. Amiri has to pressure Sakai all game long.

exactly what i predicted to be CQ's starters for this game

personally woulda opted for Samaan over Amiri..! far more class and technique on the ball and much more respectable on delivery of fk kicks than anyone else in the squad.
but Amiri is certainly the far superior workhorse and pressing mfdr and probably faster too and Samaan has shined best as a impact sub so far in his TM career than a starter..!

this line-up should ensure to keep the Japanies at bay and likely it will be in 2nd half before we will get our breakthrough goal .... unless ARJ steps up big time and delivers a killer cross or pass to Azmoun to nick it early..!
