Azmoun has been brilliant again but so has their central defenders, we could do with a Ghoddos on the pitch to take control of the ball and create some chances.

I dont understand why CQ thinks Japan is like Yemen or Oman or … to employ the same "HOPEFUL LOBS & WAIT FOR LONE FORWARD TO DO SOMETHING" tactics.

against those lower teams this works. But to treat japan he same means we effectively take out our midfield, as we have so far.
contrast it with japs who use their passing and midfield to BUILD UP their attacks.
something we have not done so far.
we just kick the ball up field HOPING our lone striker IN BETWEEN 3-4 defenders, gets the ball and does some magic!

Decent first half... I was expecting a little more direct attacking game to put more pressure on their shaky defense but overall not a bad performance.

We obviously cannot afford to go to ET or worse yet penalty kicks so I hope we really pick up the pace and find an attacking rhythm early in the 2nd half.

I found Ashkan to be off his game early on but he got better in the later stages of the half. Dooo Dooo Dooo Dooo Dooo Doooo Iran.
