Iran had the best chance of the game. A sloppy start in some ways but grew into the game after about 25 minutes. I predict a much more solid half from Iran. My only worry is Amiri possibly getting a second yellow.Comment

our boys have played well. Keep playing compact and break away when opportunities are there. Japan is more likely to be tired before us.

Overall:
- Japan dominated first 10 minutes or so, then we took over for 15 minutes, then 50-50 for the rest
- Dejagah has been well covered and is playing with anger (not his usual self)
- Amiri has been poor, no offensive threat, stupid yellow, we are missing Taremi
- Mohammadi solid on defense
- Ebrahimi getting a yellow is a big blow since he is a CDM and needs to be aggressive
- Azmoun is running so much I’m worried he’ll gas out, what a run though 2 nutmegs!
- not much from Jahanbaksh
