Problem is Iranians have this superior mentality over their opponents... We don't want to give anyone any respect. Qatar has played opponents in equal footing of Iran. But you and others want to ignore that fact. The reality is that Iran is extremely weak when it comes to mental/psychological and attacking aspect of football. We maybe slightly better in defense thanks to CQs park the bus mentality in the 18. If we want to progress, we have to see what Japan is/has been doing for its sport.

The current Asian Championship has 24 teams. In 1996 there were 16. Thus 8 teams that were too weak to qualify in a 16 team field now qualify. Reaching the final/3rd place game now takes 7 games. In a 16 team tournament it takes 6. Those are the facts.

I dont think Andorra, Liechtenstein, Faroe Islands, Moldova and 5th rate European teams are higher in quality

I'm just pointing out the facts the same way I would make this comparison between Daei and top scorers from the 8 team Asian Championship.

Qatar did to UAE like what Japan did to Iran winning with high score.

They look Stronger than Japan.

I think we are better matched with Qatar than Japan. a week before AAC game we defeated them at home.
Saudi, Qatar, Japan, Korea have better youth programs in addition to a better league than Iran. It will be harder for Iran to compete with these teams in the Future.
