    Zende bad Iran.

Exactly why we lost. Who the fuck gives up a goal like that? Complete mental breakdown on the goal.

Look at Japan and Iran's society the last 40 years. One is a major first world country, the other is a declining third-world one.

This football game is a representation of that. Nothing more, nothing less.

      Thank you Carlos.

          Overreactions.

Football is a game of moments. Azmoun’s goal had gone in or our defenders hadn’t lost their minds things could have been differently.

Despite the negativity, Iranian football has made huge strides in the past 8 years. It’s not as bad as some of you make it out to be.

Anyone who has played football knows, some calls go for you, some go against and no ref. is perfect.

You can't have the entire focus of your game be arguing every decision or the result is what we saw today which itself was a repeat of what happened at the WC... frustration, total lapse of concentration and idiotic decisions... rinse and repeat, you get the same result.
Words of wisdom. Next manager should teach this to our football players. Only one person should talk to referee and that's the captain. Nobody should leave the match and argue with referee period.

You bring in the best coach in the world, you still wont get far.
why? bcoz we wont provide the necessary tools and conditions for him to do his work.

for the reasons mentioned in the above posts.
                and lets not fool ourselves.

quite a lot of our misery is also political and from outside purview of football/sports. Yes, it shd not be. But it's not a fair world.

with our regime as a paraiah & troublemaker, you wont find any friends among ppl. And dont fool yourselves, the heads of confederations, committees, referees, hosts, … etc etc are all human and definitely impacted by such things.

as long as IR exists, we WILL always face greater than necessary or fair opposition in ANY int'l arena we step in. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

Stop over-reacting. We lost not because "we aren't that good", but because we switched off for 2 seconds. That is football.
Main cause of this besides our cultural being passionate and emotional is lack of mental preparedness. this only comes with time and practice. We again didn't provide carlos camps and friendlies. Despite that we came so close, which shows how hard they all worked despite the lack of resources given to them. dameshoon garm. I am proud. I just wish they had more to show for their efforts. We were the best team in this tournament. The penalty killed the game. Australians keep getting revenge for us eliminating them in 1998.

                      CQ dynasty has ended.

I will miss him dearly. But it is a good thing he is leaving. Now we can finally see what poor quality our game really is.

sorry guys, we do not have great players as we used to have (96-2007). probably in another generation we will have a solid talented players.

Lets face it, Japan made us look like amateurs. they actually played football, and their players are actually good. No matter how good a coach is (CQ is a hell of a coach), you cant make a player have the talent he doesnt possess.

supposedly Jahanbakhsh is our talent, but he cant even run successfully with the ball. only Taremi is good with the ball and dejagah.

anyway im rambling cuz im sad and sick and tired of some delusion fans. but it is what it is.

We had plenty of quality. Korea have not beaten us once under carlos. We lack mental preparedness. We lacked proper preparation. Sadly, our boys deserved better but come home empty handed. One can hope and dream to succeed without resources but the most likely outcome is coming up short. which is painful for the players and fans. The only winners today besides japan were branko, ghalenoei, mayelikohan and the mafia agaisnt carlos and TM

Strongly disagree with the title. This is CQ's team. He built a team void of intelligence and skill. He built this team of work horses based solely on what he valued. We played this garbage brand of football of park the bus and hoof the ball and the fans kept praising him. had he gotten the result today we would have kept praising him. He just wasnt good enough to get us over the hump and have any meaningful impact on our football. And that is the truth. His legacy will be gone with him, a less skilled team made of 7 defensive mids. Heck he was even putting Cbs to play in the midfield and even ansarifard just for his jumping and heading abilities. When are people going to admit that this was CQ's football and tactics. He was a one trick pony and got exposed anytime any team took a lead against us. I hope Colombia watched the game today and ask themselves if this is the direction they want their football to go.

I know you're frustrated as I am too but CQ was a great coach. You got to realize that we are lacking strong talents to really be contenders vs worthy opponents. Taken what we have available CQ chose the best squad to be competitive at least. Look at our foreign based players best we have is Jahanbakhsh, but a decade ago we had likes of Mehdi Mahdavikia, Ali Daei, Javad Nekhonam, Ali Karimi and Vahid Hashemian. Not having exceptional players in big matches count significantly, something that you should not ignore.
I wish CQ was in charge a decade ago, because by his disciplinary way of coaching we could make second round of WC and won this damn cup finally. But the shortages of talents has been a big issue, something people do not see when we beat Yemen or cruise past China but it is there and today it was very evident. For instance we had no leader in the field who could calm players down and tell them "hey it is ok we are behind, just play your game stay in your positions do not act hectic, we can come back to this"... There was no one.

Let’s face it... what a stupid thread obiviousily I take it his first to jump off the wagon. To undermined what this team has done just after this game is plain childish.

Hi guys, I am new to PersianFootball,
As a Mixed Iranian/Japanese heritage , This Match was very special to my family and I.
I cant separate the feelings I have for both countries.
I have been following TeamMeli Iran Games since 2004 Asian cup
I like to say few things about this match Iran vs Japan
First - Iranian players have been complaining to every Referee decisions and the first Japan goal was the Result of it. this complaining about the Referee has been Carlos Queiroz team ever since He took Over the Job For Iran. and Iranian players love to Argue with the Referee, .they dont respect the Referee decisions which causes more problem for them .
Second- , Azmoun shot Could have changed the game if it went in . Iran played well for 60 mins to keep japan silent , and the rest of the game it was japan Thanks to Iranian players lack of concentration and arguing with the referee!
Third- Poor Referring, this Ref has a bad reputation For Australian League Biased and full of Flaws .I knew the Decisions were going to be controversial when they appointed Chris Beath
the penalty for Japan was not a clear Penalty, It was not intentional when the ball hit the hand of Iranian player,
Fourth- Missing link in the Midfield Saeid Ezatolahi not being there affected Irans defense , more vulnerable without him.
Finally, Carlos Queiroz, His tactic has affected Iran Defense , too many changes for the Center Back in this Asian cup and his mentality, he did not believe Iran could lift the trophy
                                where was his winning mentality?
he payed too much respect to japan team saying they are the favorite and Iran are not.
Iran knows how to defend well with Carlos Queiroz and in terms of offense they can only execute against weaker opposition with shaky defense from what I have seen so far.
in summary, Iran played very well this Asian cup against weaker oppositions. they also showed that they can not comeback when they are down which is a problem for them due to Carlos Queiroz counter-attacking system.
also, Iranian players lost their temper and cool, Ashkan Dejagah shove and azmOUN slapped the Japanese players
they could have been easily carded or even sent off .
Iran was mentally not ready and The Refree influenced the result of this match!
                                what a shame!
in Japan many fans believed Iran would advance to the final but you never know its football anything can happen.
