Someone once asked me how could I live with so much disappointment through the years and continue to love and support TM. I guess for me it is the story of love and resilience and that's the story of Iran. That's why I love phoenix (ghoghnoos) as our mythical bird because it rises from its own ashes again and again.

He brought disaster to Persepolis club and buried his talents in Qatari desert despite CQ asking him to go to Europe and all of his big talks about LaLiga offers. Velasco and CQ are not a good comparison. Before Velasco Iran was almost nothing on the map but before CQ Iran was always a contender for Asian Cup and usual World Cup team we nearly lost on 2002 and 2010.

Not everyone can understand the passion that we have for Iran's football specially our Team Melli. For me personally Iran's sport is one of the biggest if not the biggest passion of my life. Some Iranian colleagues were making fun of me today at work for taking this loss seriously and being very upset.

I would respectfully say that I disagree to the extent that I believe in the absolute polar opposite of your statement.

The only way we can go now is down. We have taken a lot of things for granted, I don't think we will see a coach, and a national team infrastructure, as good as this again.

Many said that when Viera was fired ..then when Blazevic took Croatia to final 4 of WC and came to Iran...there will be others...trust me.

As someone who hasn't been back in over a decade and haven't followed the PGL since Saipa and Daei won it in 2007 ....TM is my glue to Iran.

I was in an international trade show over the weekend in travel industry...and obviously Iran was missing. When I was seeing countries like Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Puerto Rico there marketing their nations, breaking stereotypes, enlightening a Western audience...It made me afsoos.

We have so much to offer to the world, so much potential, so much to be proud of and improve...and yet, we are where we are.

It frankly made me depressed. Thank for TM for being such a light for many of us during these times

TM has done what no politician,no highly educated person no role model has achieved in our community.
Bringing so many people together for a common cause is magical in itself.

This team has moved me. Their unity as a team is sacred and needs to preserved.

What is so beautiful about this team is that they are a truly from the people and for the people. Watching them feels like an escape from the constant barrage of corruption, frustration, and depression that seems to be seeping out of every other outlet in the country. It's like catching a small window of the resilience and passion that shines through in spite of all the obstacles in our way. At the same time, they're still held back fundamentally by the aforementioned issues.

Iran is economically and politically far behind our sporting rivals. I dont want to begin to explain the years of clean, proper investment and framework it took to get the Japanese to be able to control and pass the ball the way they did today.

But what is so enamoring about our team is that in spite of not having any of that, our team still holds its own. The 11 players on the pitch are still in their own way a miracle. They may not have top tier technique or refined skills but they still made it to the top tiers of football driven purely by the passion our entire nation has for football. That's why I can never feel like they owe me anything, I can never place an unreasonable expectation on them. All I ask is that they try their hardest and really that's enough to make me happy. I think Quieroz saw the same thing, I think that's why he loved his team so much.

Japan was a robotic, efficient, modern team. Iran was a poetic team; we play with the same passion you read in a Rumi poem and self destruct in the same image he portrays. That's in my opinion part of why we love the team so much too. Not only is it a connection for many of us to a country we've found ourself distant to, but the team itself is in many ways a reflection of ourselves and our own culture.

I think after today everybody has a lot of thoughts going through their head. I know that I need to take a big break from PFDC for a little bit, it's been A LOT lately.

Maybe we should be happy that with all our troubles we even came this far and reached the semis however it was much more bitter than 4 years ago due to the amateurish protests leaving almost half of the team out of play resulting to a horrible goal followed by a draining penalty minutes later and last but not least a 0-3 loss that only happened 8 years ago last time facing the Brazilians in a friendly. A 0-3 loss to an Asian side last happened 20 years ago against Kuwait and again in a friendly.
Let us not forget Japan is a free, reputable and progressive nation (Part of the seven largest advanced economies in the world known as G7) who hosted the 1956 Tokyo Olympics (Over 60 years ago) co-hosted the 2002 World Cup and will be hosting the next Olympics in 2020. Iran taken captive by a theocracy for 40 years is still struggling with clear natural basic rights! During the Shah Japan was an example and it used to be said Iran aims to become the 2nd Japan.
