It's really sad to see how most Iranians put names and brands ABOVE the content. The argument shouldn't be about how we can't afford Klinsmann or he won't come to Iran, etc. It should be about what he has accomplished as a coach that would make him a suitable candidate for TM. And the answer to that is a whole lot of NOTHING. He's Ali Daei 2.0. Great player. Shit manager.
Don't look at a manager's name and his affiliated clubs in his resume. Look at his accomplishments based on his available resources. For example if you managed Real Madrid with the likes of Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham, Figo and Roberto Carlos, and ended up in the 4TH PLACE. You're beyond shit. Cause my dead aunt would be able to do a better job as an absentee ghost manager than that with those players.

Klinsmann isn't a terrible coach. He gets the issues Zandi mentioned, academies, facilities, friendlies, etc. He actually started his own legionnaire movement around the same time as CQ. And we've seen the downward spiral the US has taken since his departure. He's not my first choice given that I don't think he has the character to deal with IFF etc., but we could do a lot worse.

the big names news is bandied about so the fans dont put pressure on the incompetent and corrupt officials. till league starts and they get distracted by shitty pp vs ss hollow rivalries and ACL games, …
my guess is some 3rd or at best, a DESPERATE low 2nd tier eastern European coach will be brought in (while a whole bunch of middle-men pocket shitload of money during contracts and negotiations).
face it.
As long as IR exists, nothing good happens for, or in Iran
Anyone who has followed our football in the past decades well knows this whole typical process. We've been through this many times in the past, and will be again for as long as this Islamic regime rules the country.
I too predict a 3rd. tier East European coach, especially yet another Croat taking helm of the team. But this ain't gonna happen soon. We will have to go through the ordeal of finding a "World Class" coach, meanwhile hiring domestic coaches temporarily until we finally appoint a mediocre foreign coach. Once we find that coach, then yet another torturous journey of his dramas with the system will drag on and on and on.
The moral of the story is that in some more years we will be once again gathering here talking about the same issue...

well, we had the good coach. we had a world class coach. for 8 years. but still no better result than before. now this god is gone and the next god will come and we'll see where that takes us. but I am not holding my breath!!!!!
If hiring expensive world class coaches was the solution, KSA would have already won the world Cup. You want to improve your football, improve from ground up. if you are driving on a shitty road with lots of potholes, it doesn't matter what kind of car you are driving, the ride is going to be bumpy!!!
You want to win the cup and be a regular powerhouse, go fix your leagues, privatize football, and let people who know something about football to run it.

~ CQ was instrumental in building the professional training pitch and sports academy in Tehran, he built Iran's defense to a very organized solid state, gave the team a winning character & mentality, had us getting results consistently (unheard of in Iranian football) and many other accomplishments. I listened to Mehran Molkara's assessment and I have to agree with him. Mehran as many of you know is a smart football analyst with a FIFA A license. Part of his assessment was that CQ has never been able to get Iran to recover and come back when they are a goal down. As a matter of fact, in 100 national team games, Iran has never WON a game when they went down a goal under CQ's guidance (saw this stat on Varzesh or Shabake 3); they have only managed to come back from a goal or goals down to draw but never to win. Mr. Molkara's point is the lack of fluidity & offensive creativity and ideas of CQ when his team is down one. The brilliance of CQ was that he held opponents in check and Iran mainly scored first. Molkara of course like many pragmatic soccer analysts was full of praise for CQ in other areas (Defense, organization, training, discipline, winning attitude, psychological motivations, etc).
~ My overall point is: Thank you Carlos Queiroz for making Team Melli a respected, organized and formidable team for even soccer powerhouses who underestimate one of the best if not best Asian team in the last 4-5 years. We will always remember you and your accomplishments for Team Melli. With that being said after nearly eight years (7 years and 9.5 months to be exact), fresh ideas and maybe more attacking football from a near top foreign coach like Scolari and Herve Renaard are needed. I admire and respect CQ for what he did for the progress of Iranian football. Looking back at his nearly 8 years in charge, I see that we were in almost every match during his tenure. However, we came up short in winning a Cup on two occasions (sure external & internal factors played key roles: Ben Williams in 2015, our own players' lack of focus against Japan in 2019; but great disciplined & organized Asian teams like Japan don't put themselves in positions where it comes down to referee decisions or lose focus for periods of the match).
~ Molkara put it best: CQ built a team of physically mighty gladiators who were very organized and good defensively. However, Iran's root in football is gol koochik and futsal style of playing; that was missing under CQ as our creativity was really just on display against the weaker Asian teams in this 2019 Asian Cup. Once we played Japan, a strong team, we resorted to long balls; same as the China game but Japan is not China. Japan is as good as the top second tier European teams (Switzerland, Bosnia, Serbia).
~ I thought we would actually win this 2019 Asian Cup because Japan's team was so different than the team they sent to World Cup 2018. Early on, Japan looked above average in squeaking by weak teams (except Saudi Arabia which is not a weak Asian team). Then, I realized that we are still behind the Japanese in discipline, organization, professionalism and keeping our emotions in check. We were the older team on average age but we acted younger and more inexperienced than the more youthful Japanese side. It showed that Japan is so good from the grounds, roots up that they can change 10-13 players from the World Cup and still possibly win the Asian Cup only 7 months later! At this point, we could not do that!
~ The Japanese, Koreans, Qataris and Australians are moving forward at a good pace; we must do the same. We need to learn from what CQ gave us, left us, taught us and learn to move forward.
***All for the Love of Team Melli (bachehaa motchakerim)***
