Actually, not a bad way to get the team/new coach in tune again. They're basically free friendlies that happen automatically. It's actually good to have them before the second round of WCQ, which will be more high intensity.

If its a 32 team World Cup, it will be a tough qualification as Asia will only have 3.5 spots.
Iran and Japan won't be in the same group either as they will probably be 1 and 2 in Asia when the groups are seeded.

Aziz I believe we still have 4.5 spots. The 2002 3.5 was because Japan and Korea were hosting

The Asian section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification will act as qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Qatar, for national teams which are members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). 4.5 slots (4 direct slots and 1 inter-confederation play-off slot, excluding the host nation's slot) in the final tournament are available for AFC teams.[1]

The qualification process will involve four rounds, where the first two will double as the qualification for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
