I am mentally and emotionally drained, going to disappear for a while

To all my PF Friends here on this board :

I have been a member of this board here since 1997 however
After our loss yesterday i have had some time to rethink a few things rationally and reflect on
few issues in my life, also dealing with Iran's TM football, wrestling, weightlifting and sports as a whole.

I really thought this was our best TM ever and would win it all after 43 years , i am almost 48 and starting to believe that
we will not win the AC for another couple generation to come.

I am so drained and honestly have no more motivation, pride and Gheyrat left in me when it comes to Iran.

I didn't think i could ever get this way, never, but right now I have a big empty whole in me and need to do some deep
    soul searching.

I have been and athlete all my life and loved anything and everything about my country's sports but now i am seeing
things from a different lens, i am extremely saddened and dissolutioned.

I hope that i can fix things in my head and in my heart and get back here soon but for now I am done here.

Regards to all you doostan e khoob o aziz.

Dadash, I can feel your passion, but in the end don't take it that hard, in football we witness great days and days like yesterday, we can be proud of our Team Melli, they played a great tournament, we will come back, there is no doubt about it.

Stay strong brother. I am 25 so I may get to witness a AC title sometime in my future but I have came to accept that we will never win one either as long as their corruption or hashiyeh involved in our football.
This was our strongest team that could've won the title, but it wasn't meant to be for us. Iran ever succeeding in football and winning the Asian Cup or advancing into the group stages will always be a dream and never a reality as long as we have corruption.

Remember that we are ALWAYS the underdogs

Same feeling for me, i feel you man, pretty depressing time, i lost all the motivation regarding Iranian football, have been following the last 9 Asian Cup closely and thought finally this is our year, not only it wasn't but was one of the huge disappointment.

Takes time to recover from this.....

Same here, lost motivation because I know all the foundations CQ built will be demolished and we will go back to struggling against minnows. I feel CQ hit a wall with what he can do, and in a normal nation I’d be grateful and realize that the growth would continue with another qualified coach, however, with the IRI I know that will not happen

Dash don't be hard on yourself. Don't forget we will always go out a compete against all odds. We know how good we are and our opponents know that too. It doesn't matter what the record show. We play 110% and force the best out of our opponents. Thats it!

Im the same, I too felt this one was truly ours, but we choked, the team lost focus, was it your fault? was it CQs fault? no! it wasn't even the boys fault! We are Iranians and by nature we are all emotional, we lose sight of the big picture and look at one small insignificant thing! ( AKA Iranian revolution) but as your PFDC name : SARBAZ, be one , be a fighter, know that we might have lost the competition but the games go on, We as a nation have been on this planet for 2500 years and we will be be here for another 2,500 and we shall have glory, we shall have triumph, just be patient, this is but another one of our traits....

Thanks for writing and expressing your feelings.

There will be ups and downs in our lives. I have had my shares of them.

I have been with Team-e Melli longer than the majority of members. I still support Team-e Melli but I do not support the administration of sports who are political appointees.

By going away you will not help our team to improve. We need to be active. I wished the fans would pay the coach's salary rather government. I do not accept government's involvement in sports.

I was down too, but I feel better after a day gone by. Rest a bit, take a break, but come back and be active.

To start this was a wrong assumption! This was in no way the best TM we had and I am so amazed of how many people on this board believed in such. This TM was well organized but it had some serious issues with passing the ball and creating chances which was due to lack of strong offensive midfield. The void of retiring star players was felt even in World cup matches. Most people on this board were not seeing the true strength of TM, that is why this loss is so unbearable.

Winning Morocco and tying to rusty Spain and Portugal were good results but really we got the luck on our side and those games could go the other way. For example if Beiranvand did not save that penalty vs Ronaldo we would be behind and likely to concede another just like the Japan game.

Japan on the other hand is a very strong team, they almost eliminated Belgium! which is amazing team. Going up by 2 goals against the fittest and in my opinion the best talented team in the world was not a fluke, they did so because they are that good.

I am hoping people start seeing things rationally and be more realistic. Emotions and pride do throw a big shade on logic.

just like life will go on no matter who wins the Asian Cup on 1st Feb, we have to go on and walk this journey with TM. There are still many Asian Cups and World Cups to go through . we can take a break, but come back stronger.
