8 years is a long time to have someone as a national team coach. It will be difficult to see the team without Carlos on the sideline. I felt very comfortable with him guiding the players, and although I don't feel abandoned I definitely do miss him. I think for me its just sadness and worry about the next coach. This was one the most united team melli I have ever seen, and we know it is rare to find someone to who will stand up to the federation and fight for the national team at all costs, without any party bazi or politics. He really was a coach for the fans, not the federation, and that is rare in Iran.--------------------------Beiranvand-------------------

CQ's relationship with Iranian fans is something very deep. The amount of emotional/psychological ramifications of his departure on this forum alone (let alone for all Iranians), is a testament to his greatness. He put Iran and Iranian culture/respect/dignity above football. He fought for TM and Iranian dignity in every press conference. Queiroz the Great will be remembered in Iranian history for years to come.

I haven't felt this way since Muhammad Ali's death. This is probably worse because I knew that Carlos was using football as a vehicle to bring joy to the lives of Iranians.IRI = FAILED

Definitely a very sad and bad feeling not to have him in charge. Because of Iranian affairs we all know where this is going. As said by JM he was not only a coach but a teacher. What coach do you ever remember saying things like we put the jersey up one little piece at a time. We raise the flag up one bit at a time. What coach have we had that has shown so much leadership and dignity. So much nationalism and love. If any Iranian did what he did by coaching against his own country and being so pro Iran and with love he would be labeled a traitor forever. But CQ knew his professional place and I think his love and caring went hand and hand with his professional coaching style. He was much more than a coach to us. We saw him as a light spot in the darkness of the Iranian regime and a man that stood with the people. That's why so much attempts were made to take him down.

not sure if this has been posted. Is this real? Khiabani was the agent for Iran's sponsor and Carlos cost khiabani his deal. Khiabani takes revenge on live tv? Snakes like javad are all over in Iran unfortunately. Carlos stayed because of people like many of us in this forum, he was forced out by snakes like ghalenoei, branko, khiabani and those at much higher positions that these scumbags

I am definitely heartbroken. I have followed Iranian football on a daily basis since 1996. We have never had a national team head coach like him. No doubt.
The man was pure character. He did so many services for our football. Just to mention a few, he removed all the primadonnas of TM and created the most unified national team ever. A team that loved their coach. He played an immense role in the building of the PEC training center and the renovation of the training pitch of TM. He took us to the WC twice in a row for the fist time in our history. He pretty much fixed all the prior defensive flaws of TM. We had a couple of unforgettable matches (against Argentina in 2014 and Portugal in 2018) with him at the helm of the national team.
I really feel sad after his departure. Not only because we are very uncertain about his replacement but mostly because of the man himself!sigpic

This week has been nightmarish for iranian football. I can't even enjoy Delfi transfert.
Everything is collapsing and we don't have the ressource to reverse back : sanctions, lack of friendlies, no possibilty to hire a good coach, no euro interest or our players/their clubs snubbing the few one interested..

Branko, ghalenoi, khiabani, asadi, just to name a few did everything in their power so that TM doesn't succeed with Carlos. Khak to sare hamashoon. He stayed an extra 4.5 years after 2014 world cup. he stayed an extra 6 months for asian cup but was forced to leave, they didn't want him sadly. Now he is gone and we have to move on, but I highly doubt we will find a coach as highly qualified as him or nearly as likable as his replacement. Carlos wasn't just a great coach, he was also a very likable guy.A Singapore girl who supports Iran Football
